I've had this new clutch in my '02 WRX wagon for about a week now. It was time to replace the stock clutch after 112K miles, and this one fits the bill. It seems to grab very well, and only a little chatter if you try to engage at too low an RPM, like less than 2K. No slip with the stock engine setup. Haven't done any hard launching.
As for clutch feel, it seems lighter after the initial push, which is about the same as it used to be.
If your clutch is worn, the engagement point is closer to you, but when you have a new one installed, the engagement point is much closer to the floor.

Watch out.
I killed the engine, expecting it to start engaging much later than it does now.

This is the MFR that makes the OEM parts. I expect another 100K miles out of it.

UPDATE 12-2009:

The clutch has plenty of grab even on hard takeoffs.
Chatter is pretty strong below 2K RPM. That may be an installation problem though, not the fault of the clutch.

For the money, in my beater 114K miles WRX, this was money well spent.

I replaced my stock clutch after ~130k miles since the throwout bearing was audibly squeaking. Didn't want to be stranded.
So far (about 5k on it now) it feels and acts exactly like the stock clutch.
I do get some shudder on cold mornings, before the car is warmed up, but I got that with the stock clutch too. Rumor is that this is what you get if you go to the dealer, you just pay more for it. My experience is that if it's different from what you get from the dealer, it's not very different.

Judders less than the stock clutch, but still judders. I had Huntington transmissions install the kit, they resurfaced my existing flywheel. The shop owner called me to tell me they had completed the job but that there was excessive judder engaging the clutch. I decided to take the car as it was and give the clutch a proper break in. By 1,000 miles of use most of the judder was gone, it only happened taking off in first gear and in reverse. After 10,000 miles the judder was minimal but still present. In all fairness, I had the clutch first installed on my 2002 wrx wagon with the stock ej205 engine with basic Cobb stage 2 mods at 174,000 miles. The car was on its original clutch up till that point. The oem clutch also had the judders all along. The exedy replacement judder was much much less and felt much better than the stock clutch ever did. At 190,000 miles my ej205 spun a rod bearing and I replaced the engine with a JDM ej207 ver 8, again with basic stage 2 bolt on stuff and functioning avcs. Reused my stock 5 speed transmission with the newish exedy clutch kit. I don't ever launch my car and I'm easy on the gear changes even when driving the car aggressive. The clutch was holding just fine till one day I was testing a kinugawa waste gate actuator, boost hit so hard it spun my clutch in 4th gear at 4500rpm. I stepped off the gas pedal immediately and shifted into 5th gear and pressed the gas pedal gradually to the metal and again spun the clutch. Went back to the stock vf37 waste gate actuator and haven't spun the clutch since but engagement is really high now and the clutch pedal feeling is not very good any more. I'm at 208,000 miles on the car, that's 34,000 miles on the exedy, still driving it but looking to replace it with a heavier duty exedy that can hold more power.Read more ›

We recently replaced our squealing, worn out clutch with this. There is absolutely no chatter at all, and it grabs awesome. I think the people who are experiencing issues must have not had their flywheels resurfaced correctly, or made some sort of other mistake. This should last us at least 100k miles, hopefully even 150k like our previous one.

Couldn't be happier with this clutch and its installation. I went with a new flywheel vs. resurfacing. The chatter and shuddering from the original clutch is gone, which is a great relief. It engages smoothly and holds well even during quick starts. Haven't smelled a whiff of burn, although I don't drive that hard. Seems to be holding up nicely after 8 months and 7500 miles. I took it easy for the first two tanks of gas on the new clutch and never really noticed much of a break in.

I'm not a mechanic, so it took me the better part of 2 days to finish with an assistant. I was quoted at $1800 to do it at a shop. Buying everything myself, I got it done for under $500.
