I bought this because the power adapter for my original Palm V charger died, and because I lost the travel charger I bought to replace that. This thing is about the size of sync cable alone (from the travel kit), and yet it charges and syncs my Palm. Installation was pretty simple- you have to install a driver, and I'm still a bit confused over whether Hotsync is using USB or Serial (so I just have both of them checked), but it works just fine. Just connect the Palm, press the sync button on this unit, and leave it connected to charge.

I recently purchased a not-so-new technological device called the Palm V (the 5th version of the Palm hand-held personal data organizer)...a device that originally sold for nearly $500.00 and I acquired the entire boxed product complete with everything except one little device, the charging station. Upon checking many electronic sources for such a device and being told it was no longer on the market (new or otherwise) I chanced to use Amazon's search engine and, whalla! Many of the original "docking" devices were to be had, and at a bargain; but, woe and behold, a newer type of device, this Power Sync V USB Sync Cable and Charger for Palm V was also listed. Taking a chance on an upgrade of a device that has been left behind in near antiquity I purchased your device and have begun "computing" with ease of facility with this device that allows for charging and data swaps simultaneously. Well-worth its price the device truly augments a device that I believe to be a viable product for our day even though its successors offer much more at a much-reduced price....for us old foggies it is the ideal solution. Thank you Amazon!

The shipper helpfully gave me the appropriate link to the download for Window ME and the product installed perfectly as a result.

My Palm Vx is now hooked up to the PC once more and I have the security of the hot syncs!

The driver install did not work initially - had to refer the install back to its own CD in order to locate the appropriate drivers. Unit works well as long as you don't put the computer into sleep mode - it seems to forget about being installed upon being awoke. Still, the minor quirks are overshadowed by the convenience of using a USB sync (as opposed to serial only) on computers that do not have com ports. I would purchase the item again.

I loaded the software like the instructions said.
When I plugged in the cable Windows went into it's "Found New Hardware Wizard" and after a few minutes reported that it could not find a driver for it.
I also put a program called "setcom.exe" and when the shortcut is clicked window error reports that it can't find the file. I looked for the file myslef ( I am a advanced PC tech/User) and of course it is not to be found.
Tried removing the applications and reloaded the CD not help. I've contacted the seller and their Tech support has given me a possible solution but I haven't had the time to try it yet.
