I can easily read the keys from the light given off from the flat screen monitors.
This keyboard does have a nice feel to it. The keys are smooth and do not stick. And the F key and the J key as well as the 5 key on the numeric pad have the standard nubs so that you can find your placement without having to look down from the screen.
The keyboard is lightweight but sturdy. It feels as if it will hold up well (even when I get upset at the internet connections for running slow).
I am not willing to test the claim that this keyboard is spill proof. This keyboard does not appear to be any more spill resistant than any other keyboard that I have.
My only disappointment with this keyboard is that the risers open to more than a 90 degree angle. This makes the keyboard feel flat and uncomfortable. I was able to solve this by placing a quarter between each of the risers and their back stops, and then pressing the risers against the quarters. This not only puts the keyboard at a suitable angle but the ridges of the quarters stabilize it.
Because I was not sure about this keyboard, I purchased it so I could test it for myself.Read more ›
-Large letters and easy to read
-The keys are loose and sometimes non-responsive.
-The keys rock loosely in its frame and occasionally will jam.
Even though this product is very inexpensive, do not waste your money. If you need a large and brighter keyboard, get stick-on letters and use it on your own keyboard.
First, the key strike feel is a bit stiff and strange, (the E was so tight I had to go back and add it to words repeatedly) but that does loosen up some over time, so maybe that's not such a big problem.
Next the legs/props to change the angle of the keyboard don't grip, so if you use them, the keyboard will slide with every key stroke- very annoying! Still, you can manage a work around by putting something non-slip under them.
However the final flaw is fatal- the letters wear off the keys almost instantly. The A, E and S keys were half gone in only 10 days. By about a month all the common letters were impossible to distinguish, and after about 2 months, the only letters you could still read were Z X Q and J. The directional arrows were gone also.
(I documented the changes on my Facebook page!)
On advice from my sister, I'm trying clear nail polish on the keys with the 2nd keyboard (the tv offer makes you buy two) and am hoping it will last a little longer, at least until I can find a suitable replacement with easy-to-see letters that actually last.
I notice all of the positive reviews are from people who just received the keyboards- I also thought it looked good, even if it was kludgy to use, when I first received it.
But if you need to replace your "easy to see" keyboard in about 3 weeks because there are no letters to see, the only "positive" thing I know is that this product is positively a cheaply made rip off!
** update: the nail polish trick does NOT work. It starts chipping off in a day, and the letters with it.
Sorry for the delay in updating.
Second, the ink for the letters started wearing off after ONLY 5 days!!!
I am glad I made the extra purchase of the STICK ON letters so that I could use them ON THE BRAND NEW EZ-EYES KEYBOARD!!!!
Next time you come up with a great idea MAKE SURE THE LETTERS STAY legible!
spenD the extra money for a real KEYBOARD
