The EZ Solutions Basic Workbook for the GMAT is a great warm-up book especially if you are off-track with the math for a few years. Depending on how comfortable you feel with the problems in this book, you can accordingly get the EZ review books (arithmetic, algebra, etc.) to get help on whichever area you have deficiency in. This book will give you a peak into the various types of math problems that are tested on the GMAT. The level of difficulty of the problems in this book is medium, not too easy, and not too hard. Since I have an engineering background I thought I would be fine with math until I started studying for my test. The advanced workbook was a complete fall-on-my-face kind of a book for me and that's when I turned to this book.

This workbook is part of a comprehensive series of workbooks covering various aspects of the math test for GMAT. You can pick the set of books that emphasize the areas that you need to work on. The problems chosen show the care taken to introduce the reader to the concepts and further enhance the reader's understanding by providing solutions. The solutions presented are very detailed and clearly explains how to arrive at the solutions. This and the complementary books in the series are an invaluable resource for anybody preparing for GMAT.

As the title suggests this is a great basic workbook to familiarize yourself with math concepts especially if you've been away from math for some time. I found it a great starting point in my GMAT prep and after attempting some of the questions here, I decided to purchase a few more of their math review modules to get better acquainted with the math concepts covered in the GMAT exam. The chapters are well laid out in this book and within each chapter there is a good variety of questions. The questions are neither too hard nor too easy and offer a pretty good balance of difficulty. The solutions are well explained and just reading through some of them helps remembering concepts I thought I'd forgotten. I'd definitely recommend this book to anyone that is looking to assess their math skills before beginning some intensive GMAT prep.

I found the EZ basic workbook to be a good source for practicing various GMAT problems of medium difficulty level. It gave me a good sense of where I need more help. It also helped me build my confidence level before I got into some of the more challenging problems. Most importantly, it pointed out areas where I need to refresh my math fundamentals. Overall, this book helped me warm up for the math problems. If you think you are already proficient with the medium math problems and are scoring above 600, then you can easily pass this book and go right into the EZ advanced workbook.

I bought the series, and I endorse this material over the competing ones out there. I'm thorough when it comes to researching something before I buy, and I'm glad I chose these books. I found the nuances they cover are very helpful in studying/reviewing for the gmat.

EZ SOLUTIONS GMAT SERIES: Basic Workbook

I purchased the EZ Solutions math series to aide me in focusing on the Math portion of the GMAT. The Basic workbook was very helpful in refreshing my math skills (some I remember, some I forgot). My suggestions is to use this book to help you get a better an understanding of what you know, what you think you know, and what you don't know, to see where you need to start. As far as the quantative section of the GMAT, the basic workbook may help you to write out a detailed plan to study for the math portion of the GMAT. The repitions of the practice questions give me a better understanding of the techniques. The explanations are really thorough. Since I am taking the GMAT soon, I need to remember as much as possible in the easiest ways. The basic workbook consisits of practice questions, testing how much you know. So if you find yourself not doing so well in a certain area, you can depend on the various methods that aide you solving problems step by step. If you have the series, I would suggest focusing more on the areas you have trouble with (arithmetic, algebra, geometry, word problems, logic and stats practice books) I guess I would describe the basic workbook as an appetizer for what to expect from the other practice books. I would suggest using other GMAT books, CD's, or Websites, that come with quizzes, diagnostics along with the EZ solution series. This is so you can get a real feel of the GMAT test, its language, and structure.

I purchased the 11 set GMAT Math Test Prep series a couple of months ago to help me on my GMAT preparation (executive MBA application). Not having touched math problems (arithmetic, algebra & geometry, word problems, data sufficiency etc.) in more than 17 years, the EZ Solutions series took me back to high school and first year university math classes - great books if you were good at math, even better books if you didn't pay to much attention in high school/university. Explanations are detailed with more than enough examples and covers all topics necessary for the GMAT quants.

The basic workbook will re-inforce what you've earned from the Test prep series, the advance workbook will make you scratch your head a couple of times, but if you covered the basics workbook first, you just need to apply this to solve the hardest of questions in advance workbook. This book along with the other 10 is a must buy for the quant section of the GMAT exam. Definitely worth the investment!

Reasons:1)Gives you an idea of "where you stand"...for me it was "nowhere" When i just started this book.My concepts were weak and the other prep books don't go too deep into the basic concepts So, i ordered for their basic prep material the review:algebra,arithmetic,geometry,logic&stats,word problems,applications,DS,strategies.A GREAT HELP .
2)has medium-difficult level problems..good for those who consider their basics are ready
3)A MUST PRACTISE BOOK as my score rose up to 49 in quant when i took a practice test two days back(initially for my second test it was 32 :(..).
After doing this book along with the basic prep material i feel much much more confident about attacking the problem. Currently i m practicing on their Advanced Work book which has AWESOME questions (difficulty level 700-800).
the best part about the whole series is that it refreshes the concepts and takes u up the ladder,which is the best way to beat the GMAT.
I am expecting their books for verbal too!

This book covers a good spectrum of concepts that are relevant to business math. I was particularly impressed by the detail of the solutions provided after each section (sometimes even too detailed, which isn't a bad thing!) There are a total of a few hundred questions, which, depending on your math proficiency, can be completed in several dedicated hours.
I also purchased the Advanced Workbook which extends the complexity of the problems to a more challenging level.
Overall, I am very satisfied with the quality of these practice books, and their reasonable price makes them an attractive buy. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to extend their grasp on these math concepts.

Great Book. Very helpful for studying for the GMAT or other standardized tests. I would highly recommend to anyone who needs help reviewing math.
