Book Description

January 31, 2008
EZ TIMES TABLE by Thomas Biesanz, is a fun and easy way to view, understand, teach, and learn multiplication and division. It is a graphic organizer where students create simple patterns which reveal the whole times table. There are 22 full-page charts and amusing line drawings by Jakob Marsh. (author added color). EZ TIMES TABLE is also useful for learning addition, subtraction, squares, fractions, graphing, and reading tables. An Elementary School principal says, "I strongly recommend EZ Times Tables as an innovative way to teach multiplication and division." This book is for teachers, parents, and schools who want to help learners of any age with the times table. The Table can also be used by learners of any age. By playing with patterns in math, the student makes friends with numbers while learning multiplication and division in the process. This book grew out of the author's belief that numbers are fun and easy. Numbers contain patterns and kids love patterns. Because the student makes the EZ Times Table themselves from simple directions, they value and trust it, and it becomes their anchor for learning. It visually displays numbers and their relationships viewed both as addition and multiplication. The Table helps students understand multiplication, enhances recall, and gives them an aid in memorizing the times table. It is exciting for students and stimulates their curiosity. The author is a semi-retired teacher who taught an advanced math course and saw that many students had an attitude about math that kept them from learning. He then taught test preparation. Since he is convinced that numbers are interesting, he focuses on students' curiosity about numbers. He developed this EZ Times Table to help students who struggle with numbers or have negative attitudes toward math, and show them that numbers can be friendly. EZ TIMES TABLE is copyrighted and patent pending and available as posters.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ingenious Multiplication Table!, December 29, 2007
This review is from: EZ Times Table: An easy, visual way to learn multiplication and division by playing with patterns, and making friends with numbers (Plastic Comb)
The EZ TIMES TABLE is a helpful tool for both remediated and excelled math students. Students are able to construct the entire multiplication table using this ingenious format. Number patterns are laid out for discovery. My students enjoyed the success of zipping through the process. I enjoyed looking at the completed table with them and exploring all the extended activities."

5.0 out of 5 stars Great parent resource, December 28, 2007
This review is from: EZ Times Table: An easy, visual way to learn multiplication and division by playing with patterns, and making friends with numbers (Plastic Comb)
Mr. Biesanz's EZ Times Table book will be a valuable resource for parents to help their children master multiplication facts. I am purchasing a copy for the families at the school where I teach. Many kids who traditionally have trouble with multiplication will find that the connections and patterns revealed in this book help multiplication make sense in new ways. This method provides a way for kids to recreate the times tables when they are "stuck," and is also helpful for division and fractions.

EZ Times Table teaches Multiplication but it also teaches pattern recognition which is so important in almost every learning situation. Those patterns make it fun for the kids which creates a positive attitude toward learning.
