I bought my first Eze-Lap products in the late Seventies and I have used them almost continuously since that time. I'm pretty sure they will last forever, but I've lost a couple and given others away. I left the last one in the car I traded in.

These industrial-diamond encrusted instruments are nearly fool-proof and make sharpening knives extraordinarily simple. There is a technique to be learned, but it's easy to master.

One of the great things about this instrument is that there is virtually no chance that you will grind the blade down as can be done with a whetstone, thus diminishing the life of the knife. The grinding effect takes place at the microscopic edge.

No one who owns a knife should be without one of these. It is not a gimmick.

This size is best for pocket-style knives. Eze-Lap makes sharpeners that are as large as a kitchen steel, although the two are used in a completely different way, and are well suited for culinary knives.

EZE-LAP is a great tool for keeping a fine edge on a pocket knife. I once shaved with my Swiss army knife on a bet. The EZE-LAP kept it sharp enough to do so. This is my second EZE-LAP sharpener. I had the last one for decades and misplaced it during my last move. The one that arrived from Amazon today is identical to my old one and I'm confident it will last as long as I'll need it. My old one had a thick leather sheath that I used as a strop after sharpening a blade. The sheath that came with the new one is a thick rubber-like synthetic. It will probably work well as a strop but I preferred the leather sheath.

After I spent a lot of time searching different sharpeners and reading a ton of reviews I was a little scared to order any sharpener. I saw other sharpener reviews that said those sharpeners gave shallow edges, were to complex to use, too small to get the job done or would fall apart after a few uses. I wanted a sharpener that would be easy to use, durable, work for different type of blades and metals and small enough to take with me hiking, camping or emergency situations. Well my shooting partner brought this little beauty to the range a couple weeks back so I gave it a try. Was I impressed! After only a few passes it gave my little pocket knife blade, Gerber, a great edge! The most impressive thing was that his sharpener was over 10 years old! I ordered this a few days later.

As of today I am a proud owner of this product and immediatley pulled out some of my knives. I tested this on some cheap little guys I had lying around and it gave them all a super sharp edge! I then made the next move and tried it on my favorite survival knife, LMF II, and it became a razor once more. Then when the wife's back was turned I took this guy to a few of her kitchen knives, high carbon steel, and got those things insanley sharp, to the point I warned her before she would use them.

I am super excited and happy with this purchase so far and with the all brass handle, diamond surface and sturdy construction I am confident I will have this baby for a long time to come!

This is a great little sharpener in a lot of respects. But mine at least, has some problems. The sharpening stone is not smooth. The diamond chips are different sizes and some are actually very large to the point that my knife blade catches on them. I mean they will actually stop the blade. Because of this, I only use mine for coarse sharpening. If the chips were smaller and all the same size, this would be prefect.

I was given one of these over 20 years ago by my grandpa and it sill outperforms all the other sharpeners I have bought! I can make anything razor sharp with this, I use it on everything; mini blades(exacto), pocket knives, kitchen knives(ANY/ALL), axes, machetes, scissors, fishhooks, and anything else that needs an edge....it never fails. clean it with pummice and you will never neeed another, the only reason I'm looking at a new one is for a gift to someone else. The only problem is eventually you will want it when you don't have it with you and will have to use some frustrating inferior sharpener and end up with unsatisfying results.

When I received mine, it appears to have been assembled by someone blindfolded. The sharpening rod itself is not straight. Once screwed into position for sharpening, it shoots off at quite and obtuse angle. It barely fits into it's housing. I haven't had an opportunity to use it yet, but if it performs as well as past ones I have had, it should be OK.

I can't afford to return this item. Where I live, I am lucky to get mail at all. Just not worth my time and taking a chance to never see one back. I think quality control has certainly dropped the ball on this one.

The sheath more closely resembles a cut-up bicycle tire, but appears to perform as designed.

I love anything eze lap! However this was slightly disappointing in comparison to my other eze lap stones.

Pros
- super portable and exceptional quality
- grit is great for getting new metal on your edge

Cons
- more like 500 grit after you get it broke in

I purchased two competing sharpening rods- Eze Lap, and Lansky. Both are great,
however lansky delivered a better than promised grit, but it is less portable.

I WILL BUY FROM EZE LAP AGAIN, and as always, eze lap stones get better with more use.

I purchased an ez lap knife sharpener many years ago and thought I would purchase another one for my adult son. I do not know how many knives I have sharpened with the original one and it continues to work great. Every so often I wash it with soap and water and it continues to work great.
When receiving this new one, I was very pleasantly surprised to find that it is an exact copy of the first one..
This is a great product. Keep up the good work folks.
Larry

EZE Lap works great, the first day after I received it I sharpened my Stainless Steel and Carbon Steel Knives. Stainless has always been hard for me to sharpen, but the EZE Lap was very easy to use and it performed better than expected. Service was great, and as an added bonus it was MADE IN THE USA. I would definatly purchase again.

Very good sharpener, especially for someone who needs to carry one along at all times. It occupies very little space, can be carried in any pocket, and can be assembled and disassembled with extraordinary ease. Made with high quality materials.
