That darn song in my head!, April 19, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Eager to Please (Audio CD)
This was one of my first 8-tracks. My sister's boy friend had first turned me on to Uriah Heep, also gave me the 8-Track for christmas. After about a thousand plays, the tape broke. 20 years later (1994) I finaly found Eager to Please on vinal, and "Proud words" (bonus) at a recored flea market. I could never get that song out of my head "Through the eyes of a child" not much longer than 2 minutes in length. But for years, sometimes I would lie awake in bed, or doing whatever... singing to my self the only line I could remember. "I once read a story of a world full of love, our freedome and glory, seen through the eyes of a child" every now and then depending on my state of mind (intoxicated) I would recall a few more lines, but would wake up, and couldn't recall another word. Thanks ken for what I believe is the most beautiful song that's ever been trapped in my head... Buy this CD, and "Proud words" you'll thank your self again, and again.

Decent follow-up to 'Proud Words', October 16, 1999
This review is from: Eager to Please (Audio CD)
Although neither as consistent or as good as Ken Hensley's previous solo album Proud Words on a Dusty Shelf, Eager to Please is a good record in its own right and the songs continue to bear Ken's trademark with a slight country feel. It features one of Ken's best-remembered and most poignant songs, "Through the Eyes of a Child." In a little over two minutes, Ken eloquently presents the loss of innocence, happiness and security that occur in the passage from childhood to adulthood. Other noteworthy tracks include the John Lennon-esque "Secret", the beautiful "House on the Hill", the upbeat "Winter or Summer", "In the Morning" and "How Shall I Know."

Another Gem!!, January 25, 2002
This review is from: Eager to Please (Audio CD)
What a superb follow-up to Hensley's 1973 'Proud Words On A Dusty Shelf' album. Indubitabily, this cd is on my list of 'must have'! I find it incredulous that both Proud Words and Eager To Please have not sold millions!! The song 'Through The Eye's Of A Child' is one of my very, very favourite songs.
