5.0 out of 5 stars Satellite's Best Friend !, July 10, 2006

With DVRs requiring multiple tuners, a 3 LNB satellite still needs some assistance. I installed this Eagle Aspen 4X8 and can now supply both tuners on 2 DVRs as well as 4 additional single tuner recievers without diminishing picture quality. Make sure you run all 4 outputs from your satellite into the multiswitch, otherwise you will not be able to acquire all channels. This switch can be mounted indoors or outdoors and cost about $100 less than the ones available at the big box stores and the install instructions include a Technical HelpDesk Phone Number.

If only more people knew about this item. First of all it's by far the best price around for directv compatible Multiswitch. Second - this is basically a splitter in a more complex satellite tv world. I just got directv a few months ago and the reason I waited to change from my dreadful cable company is because of the limits on how many tv's can be serviced with satellite in your house and how difficult they make it seem to be able to split off from one line/two lines coming from your satellite. But I got so fed up with Comcasts circle-jerk bad service I took the plunge a decided I could live with less Tv's connected. Luckily I have the internet and was determined enough to search and read as much as I could and found this item - it does what it is supposed to do and splits your satellite feed to other tv's. There has been NO REDUCTION in picture quality at all. I got the larger one so I would have options to add later if I want to. It's simple, excellent quality, and pretty cheap considering what you get is satellite access in more locations than they lead you to believe is possible. If you aren't a techy, just look for a little one that should be already connecting your satellite and then just replace it with this one.Make sure you get the number of cords you want to use to send to the right number of TV's and make sure they are long enough to get to the TV from the original switch location - either directly or through the cieling or walls or whatever. AND OF COURSE don't forget the receivers (buy your own or lease from DTV but either way you still need the receiver). Anyway THEY should just call it a SPLITTER for goodness sakes and save people some time.

The 4x8 Multiswitch was exactly what I was looking for to expand my DirecTV. I have a dual lumen dish with 4 lines coming into my house. I mounted the multiswitch on the wall next to my utility box where all the cables run, plugged it in and connected 6 lines out to my satellite boxes (2 dual line DVRs and 2 single line boxes) and all worked perfectly. I'm able to record 2 shows (or watch 1 and record another) on both DVRs and watch different things on the other TVs.

It was inexpensive, easy to set up and worked perfectly.
