This review is from: Eagle Aspen Dtv2Buhf Directv 2-Bay Uhf Antenna (Electronics)
I was very disappointed with the Philips High Performance Amplified Indoor Uhf/Vhf/Fm/HDTV Antenna, then hesitant to purchase the Eagle Apsen DTV2Buhf due to it's size, but this bad boy works wonderfully and is not so large that it is obtrusive in the open in my living room. It looks great, and it works very well. I was getting only 5 channels. I'm now getting 9! If you're looking for a DTV antenna, this is the one to get.
Don't be alarmed that this antenna is UHF only. Most DTV stations are not VHF. What is said to be channel 9, might be labeled that but sent out on channel 34. The old number is preserved, but the actual frequency is UHF. For complete info on your local stations visit http://www.juggling.org/bin/un.cgi/map-find to get your latitude and longitude, then enter them at http://www.2150.com/broadcast/default.asp to find out what stations are broadcasting, what frequency they're using, and where their towers are located. Chances are that the Eagle Apsen DTV2Buhf is right for you.

A great alternative to the more expensive Terrestrial DB-2,
This review is from: Eagle Aspen Dtv2Buhf Directv 2-Bay Uhf Antenna (Electronics)
I ordered this antenna to go with my HD tv because it was the same design as the Terrestrial DB-2, but over twice as less and with free shipping. I am very pleased with this antenna. After hooking it up indoors and did the auto channel search, 42 channels came up. I deleted the analog ones and still had plenty of digital ones. Every channel had all the bars on the signal meter, except for two of them which had all the bars but one. The picture quality is awesome, it looks like cable and its all free! I also don't get any of those digital drop outs where the screen goes all blocky. I think this is a great antenna, and I'd recommend it to anyone!

This antenna worked better than expected for it's size and price.
Roof top mounted. It's wide beam width allowed reception from DTV stations at 136 to 188 degrees with no problem at a distance of 10 to 50 miles with 6-7 of 8 signal strength bars on DTV broadcast. Also worked good on analog broadcast. It also worked very well on a nearby hi-band VHF channel 13. This is a directional antenna so any stations on the back side will not be received. This worked better than my old 8-bay channel master. It is made for outdoor use but because of it's small size it could be used indoors.

Great urban/suburban antenna, even for VHF,

This is an amazing antenna. I live in the suburbs, very close to all the local TV broadcast towers. It seems like I'd get good reception, but I don't. I'd tried a number of other indoor and outdoor antennas, with and without amplifiers, all of which cost substantially more than this one. All of them gave terrible reception.
I was about to give up on over-the-air TV when I read good things about the Antennas Direct DB2, then I discovered this much cheaper but identical clone of the DB2. When I got it and hooked it up, I couldn't believe how great my reception was. The digital channels never drop out, and the analog channels are so clear they almost look digital. This is supposed to be for UHF only, but even the local VHF analog channels, which were the worst with the previous antennas I'd tried (even supposedly VHF antennas), come in clear as a bell now. I'd expected to mount it outside, but the reception was so good I just rigged up a little stand and left it on the shelf where it was. I have no idea how this antenna would perform in any other location than mine, but I couldn't be happier with it. It's the best thirty dollars I ever spent. I see that the price has gone down a lot since I bought mine, but I still got a bargain.

The Dingus Works! (You know, for kids...),

This antenna works much better than the rabbit ears or the old UHF loop. I get strong signals from the major network stations. I am in the middle of a metropolitan area, 3.8 & 2.5 miles away from the 2 major broadcasting towers, so the antenna works just as well indoors as it does outside. If I lived in the outlying suburbs, I would buy the DB4 or DB8 and mount it outdoors on a mast. The plastic bracket which holds the balun (adapter that connects the 75 ohm coaxial cable to the twisted-pair wire) is a bit fragile. I downloaded & studied plans for a Do-It-Yourself version of this antenna and decided that it's cheaper and easier to buy one of these than to build one.

Just a terrific antenna. With a couple of splitters and a drop amp now every ATSC device has an excellent signal. I placed this antenna in my attic. I am close to NYC but I get a good signal from Long Island about 30 miles away.
I am not disappointed with this purchase. When you consider the price of cable, this is a bargain that keeps on giving.

Same performance as DB2 at 1/2 price,

I tried this to see if it would be as good as my living room TV setup which currently has a DB2 antenna. The reception performance is identical. I live in Manhattan/NYC and although I am only a couple miles from major towers, there are so many tall buildings around my windows that I could only get 7 channels using a Terk HDTVa antenna. I have a DB2 which works much better - I get 16 channels. This product is just as good as my DB2 in terms of reception. Even the actual parts look identical. Great deal for just $23 and free shipping.

does its job,

Just received this antenna (7/24) and took about 10 minutes to read instructions and assemble (basically inserting two long bolts with spacers, washers and nuts, then connecting to a coax cable and then to the antenna input of TV or DVD/VCR recorder that connects to TV. Right away, parts of a rubber or plastic coax adapter holder on the back of the antenna broke off. All I did was pull the adapter off to connect the coax antenna cable. Anyway, like a few other people who have reviewed this or the similar and highly-rated DB2 antenna, I found that I was able to receive VHF as well as UHF even though it is advertised as a UHF antenna. I used the antenna straight out of the box and without any amplification. I did a channel scan on an HDTV and found that I did not receive any more stations than the antenna I had been using (a Radio Shack amplified UHF/VHF dipole with loop). However, the images on the screen appeared cleaner, the audio generally stronger, and switching among channels was faster (I thought it was the TV that took an extra half-second or so to detect the channel, but a strong signal apparently does make a difference). I live about 15 miles from most of the broadcast antennae in my city, with another major antenna about 5 miles away and about 120 degrees in another direction. I'm still missing the HD signal of a couple of major stations, including the PBS station, which I was able to receive on an erratic basis with the Radio Shack antenna. On the other hand, I got strong signals from smaller stations that from the RS antenna received only weak signals. I guess I will have to do more repositioning and scanning to see if I can pick up the stations I am missing. I am basically using the Eagle Aspen antenna indoors propped upright on a small phone book on the top of an entertainment center and above the TV. The front grill of the antenna is about 12" by 20" and the double bowtie attachment on the back extends about 5" back, with the bowties going out to the sides. Without the phone book, the antenna would be resting at a backward angle on the bottom arms of the lower bowtie and the bottom of the front grill. This antenna probably won't win any awards for aesthetics, but I'm guessing one could probably put non-metallic decorations on it to disguise it somewhat, if there's nothing it could be hidden behind. I am basing my rating on this atenna's ability to receive signals well, which it does seem able to do, in comparison with its price. Up to now I have been using dipole antennae, including plain old $7 rabbit ears, in various forms (with the UHF loop, amplified, etc.), and have gotten very decent analog and digital signals on different TV sets in different locations around the house. I have also bought and returned a number of currently-marketed dipoles advertising themselves as "HDTV" antennae because they have not received any more or any better signals than the dipoles I have been using, esp. the Radio Shack model, which serves as my "reference" antenna. So far, the Eagle Aspen does NOT appear to be a "dud."

In a word, I give the Eagle-Aspen 2DB antenna high marks and kudos. At first, I did not expect much from the antenna considering the cheap price and small size, but I had high hopes anyways. Unhappily, I soon determined from its written documentation, I could expect a reception area of around 30 miles. Thing is, I'm located more than twice that far away from most major broadcasting towers. I started thinking I was wasting my time on this cheap piece of crap. In addition to the antenna, I had also purchased a 12 foot long high end quad protected cable figuring I was going to keep the antenna pretty close to the TV, in doors. When I first scanned for channels I got zilch, nada. Not good at all, but not entirely unexpected. What a squander, I thought. In desperation, I tried tightening the cable connections with pliers at the TV and antenna and tried again. Wondebar! I got 22 digital channels! All the major stations supposedly well out of range came in strong and true. I got an incredible strong signal and perfect reception from all received channels. This is not your father's old over the air TV reception with lines, shadows, and picture static. The HD signal/picture from this antenna rivals and exceeds high end paid cable reception and the best part it's free. Sixty dollars a month free! Do the math, that's over a $700.00 a year saved. Screw cable!

Works like advertised. I installed this to get a clearer line of site to the towers than my indoor antenna was able to receive. I have been trying different indoor combinations including powered antennas with no luck. Signal meter shows this antenna picked up ~20%. I need to finish fine tuning so I may be able to max it out yet. The packaging was weak. The clip that holds the connector in place was broken when I opened the box. Replaced it with a zip tie. The fingers for the Vee's were all bent and had to be straightened. Easy enough to repair but the parts shouldn't just be thrown in a box and expected to survive. That is why I took a star off. I am happy to report improvement using this antenna and it is non-powered at that! An old but proven design.
