Great backpacking rod.

The 2 end pieces have to be tightened after several casts or they'll come apart.

Action is good, with a medium flex feel.

I have an earlier Korean made version of this Chinese product. Although neither is close in quality and performance to the American made Wright & McGill product of the past, my older Korean version is far better than the Chinese product. Although there have been obvious production shortcuts taken (plastic reel seat instead of metal, cheaper thread windings, lower quality line guides absence of protective carrying tube) the fit of the rod ferrules is the biggest drawback. Glass on glass ferrules (i.e. where rod sections join) need a light coating of candle wax or beeswax for a tight fitting. Simply jamming sections together ever more tightly, just ruins them. This seems to be the problem with item I acquired. Joints are loose and creaky and just don't feel right. Can't recommend, will probably give it away or return.

The rod is similar, but it is not as pictured. I even did the 'chat' option to ask about the product and relayed the concerns I had about a previous customers complaints (in the review section) that it wasn't as pictured. Amazon assured me it was identical to the rod pictured, but it showed up and was not. The reel attachment is some sort of black plastic not, the aluminum one pictured. The rod has flown apart several times during casting. Not like my old one unfortunately. I feel a bit cheated at this point, and given that I actually talked to someone about this before the purchase, I feel like my time was wasted, and my concerns were blown off. Why weren't they honest with me?

It's an awesome rod, great action and i love it. It has one drawback, the sections
keep coming apart on hard casting.--To correct the problem i had to glue two of the four sections together and make it a two piece rod. I would not trade this rod
for anything. Guy

The Eagle Claw Pack-It Spin and Fly Rod is a great packing rod for the price. I purchased it as a backup while I had my lifetime warranty Eagle Claw Trailmaster was sent in for repair/replacement. Worked great backpacking and fishing in the Hgh Uintas this year. Light weight, good feel. I'd give it 5 stars if I did not have to tighten it throughout the day.

It was a bit longer than I remembered (I have used this rod before) but great build quality and very portable.

This is the perfect trout and light bass rod. the action is light, but strong. I borrowed this rod from my friend to fish an Alpine lake in Wash State in a kaya and then bought one for myself after I got back home.. It is a bit long for a boat, but the control and the casting power and accuracy far outwiegh the issue of length. Plus, it breaks down conveniently to four pieces and thus is great for camping trips. Thereafter, I used this rod at Lake Sonoma in California and forgot to bring it in that night and someone stole it out of my boat. Well, since then I have bought another for myself and then yet another for my son's next birthday. You could say I like this rod plus it is a very very reasonable price for a great all around rod. And as far as that goes, I did not even mention that the handle is reversible and thus becomes a fly rod. Come to think of it, that is why it is a bit long because it needs be!

Excellent action, very sensitive! I love this rod no longer than 25" fits in any pack or backseat, matched mine to a Pfluger real wrapped in 6 pound test and have proceeded to catch more than thirty fish in the month I have owned it now my ten year old daughter wants one...

My rod broke the first time I tried pulling line through the guides. The ultra-thin tube wall shattered. It was then I noticed the "made in China" sticker on the butt.

I bought mine from Gander Mountain for $50. For another $15 I could have had it repaired if Eagle Claw deamed it to be a manufacturing defect. I returned it and got my money back.
