When I travel, my carry-on's include my laptop in a small wheeled case and a Canon camera bag for my dslr. But I also want to be able to carry all the medications I take, several changes of underwear and socks, razor and tooth brush, and whatever else might be needed to get me through a couple of days if my checked luggage gets lost in transit. This bag allows met do it all. I can put my camera bag in this duffel bag and still have quite a bit of space for other things. The bag is perfect as a carry-on: very roomy but carry-on size, strong, light weight, good handles and straps, attractive.

When the bag is open, there is a zip pocket at one end. This pocket becomes a pouch that holds the bag when desired. Fully open the bag is 22x12x12, in pouch form it is 8x8x3.

I recommend the bag without hesitation.

I ordered this duffel so that I could have a compact bag to take with me on business trips where I'm able to also get some weekend fishing in. Since I only carry on my luggage when I fly, there's rarely much room to spare. This duffel is the perfect solution. It tucks into a small corner of my carry-on, and opens up to just the perfect size. I was able to fit a pair of size 11 rain shoes, full rain jacket, and rain pants into this bag which is exactly what I needed it for.

I was also impressed at the strength of the material, stiching, zippers and handles since it is so light. Much better than anticipated. All I have left to test is the waterproof capabilities, but it still gets 5 stars for fitting my need perfectly.

We used this bag as an extra bag for a trip to Costa Rica. We wanted to have an extra bag on hand for souvenirs. It was great. It held 2 DHL Medium Express shipping boxes (for a failed shipping attempt) and many other souvenirs. Light weight, strong, big enough to hold lots of stuff but still small enough to be a carry on on the airplane. Great!

I purchased this bag intending to use it as a gym bag. I've had a bigger bag with more pockets and other features, but I wanted something smaller. This bag is great. It is lightweight and can be "packed" to a very small size. When fully expanded, though, it's a great size for a gym bag and could easily be used as extra storage on a trip. It holds a pair of shoes, several sets of clothes, and some toiletries with room to spare. I haven't had it long, but it seems very durable and looks nice.

I originally bought this because I needed a cheap over night bag, and have since taken it on half a dozen trips. It holds a lot - several pairs of jeans, several shirts, underwear, toiletries bag - you get the gist. It's both lightweight and durable, and when you empty it, it folds and zips up to the size of a small pancake. Just an excellent carry-on bag - great price, great product.

I traveled to Turkey and threw this duffel folded up in my bag for the return trip. I tend to over-buy souvenirs and this was the perfect way to get them home! The bag was super small and took up very little space in my bag while I was traveling. Then, on the way home, I stuffed it to the brim and sent is as a checked bag with all my souvenirs. No rips in the bag at all! It worked so well for me, that my roommate bought the same bag for her Europe trip a week later. Great bag! It was super light weight, but sturdy!

the packable duffel is just what I need for all the travels I have - the foled size is really small but the expanded size is bigger than an overnight bag. I also purchased a Swiss Army packalble duffel bag but it was a bit of bulky folded but not even a gym bag size when it's expanded. That is the reason I had to buy the Eagle Creek bag.

This bag replaces its five year old predecessor, which went with me everywhere. It was my utility "purse" and I've worn it out, sadly. EC took something that wasn't broken and fixed it. The newer bag is smaller, noticeably smaller. The pocket is on the end vice the side which is a better security measure. I can tote my old bag with pocket inboard away from busy fingers. The old bag also had a pocket on the inside which is really the pocket to fold the bag back into, if that makes sense. When my old bag is deployed, the inside pocket was great for stowing more sensitive items. The new bag has the one outside pocket total. The older bag also packed smaller even though it was bigger in size.

Overall, the bag works as designed but it is not a move forward in engineering. It is two steps back.

EC just lost a loyal customer for I bought other bags as well over the years. Shame, really...

I recently took a plane and didn't want to be charged fees for or to lose my luggage so I needed a nice carry-on bag. This bag was exactly what I was looking for. I packed for 10 days and still had room to spare. It is lightweight, but durable.

After the trip I stuffed it into its own side pocket and now it takes absolutely no space in my closet. By far the best thing about this bag is that it can be stored without taking up any room, unlike other bags sold for carry-on that have a rigid frame and take up closet space.

I took this bag on a four day weekend trip to the east coast. (I live in California.) I was able to stuff it super full, and the zipper held strong. I was able to fit a bunch of shirts and tank tops, two dresses, capri jeans, three pairs of shoes and all my travel size toiletries. I also was able to shove it into a small space into the overhead compartment on the plane, which was really nice. Love it!
