My last Eagle Creek lasted five years and from the looks of it, so will this one.

I love this design because it's slim, yet has a zippered compartment for coins and secure pockets for credit cards.

I am a big fan of Eagle Creek products. They are smartly designed and durable. The older trifold wallet was a good example. The new version is still good but different. The Velcro closure still keeps everything inside and the tough fabric is all but indestructible. However, the older model wallet that I've used for many many years before it gave out was a better design. That is, the older model:
    1. was somewhat bigger - the new model is distinctly smaller so holding several credit cards is a challenge. Also, the new wallet does not come with the plastic picture holder piece
    2. had a zippered second folder for extra cash - the new model is simply a fold-over flap
    3. the price is a bit too high for what you get.
Otherwise, a good wallet but longtime Eagle Creek wallet lovers beware!

Eagle Creek makes great travel accessories - they're thoughtfully designed and built to survive in the real world. I carried the predecessor to this wallet for about 7 years, until the velcro stopped being functional, so I ordered the new model. It's just as well made and handy as the old one, and I don't mind knowing I'll have to replace it someday for the same reason. The first one survived being dunked in various trout streams and managed to handle all my essentials on a daily basis throughout its life, and if not for the velcro issue, would still ride in my pocket daily. It holds my credit cards, insurance cards, IDs, pictures of my kids, cash, and fishing and hunting licenses with aplomb, and I use the zipper compartment for a spare house key and car key. The little rubber insert on the outside keeps it from moving around in my pocket and makes it harder for the bad guys to lift it easily, which puts it points ahead of the leather ones. However, due to its tri-fold design, it wouldn't be a good choice if you're one of those fellows who carries around two months' worth of receipts and a wad of cash.

For people trying to replace an old Eagle Creek tri-fold wallet, be aware that this is not the same wallet. It's smaller and more cheaply constructed than past tri-folds. Not worth the price in my opinion. I loved my old tri-fold wallet, but won't be using this one.

I bought this wallet to replace an Eagle Creek tri-fold that has seen many years of use. This replacement is vastly inferior in construction and design. Its also a tiny bit smaller, making the thing virtually useless.

These comments should reinforce what others have had to say.

    Its going back.

This is my third (and final) review of Eagle Creek products. If you check out my other reviews, you'll see why I won't be buying any more Eagle Creek products. I said I wouldn't after my last bad experience, but I relented and gave them another chance. That was my mistake.

The main problem with this version of their tri-fold wallet is that there is a pocket which sits opposite the Velcro closure. Over a short time it starts to wear, until ultimately the pocket becomes completely unusable. Check out the photo I submitted for this product (one of the product photos). It shows the hole in my wallet.

This is a major design flaw, which could have been caught had they done ANY kind of basic product design testing.

The rest of the wallet is a nice enough design, although it's a bit smaller than their earlier designs and credit cards no longer fit all the way in (again, maybe they should test this first). And except for the bad pocket opposite the Velcro, the durability seemed improved.

What a terrible disappointment it was then, to end up with this hole.

Eagle Creek used to be a small company dedicated to making high quality products. But it was sold to a huge multinational company that seems more interested in maximizing their profits by cashing in a a good brand name, than designing the high quality products of their predecessors.

VF Corporation (the new owner) wrote in their Jan 1, 2011 press release to announce big changes: "This move comes at the heels of major developments at Eagle Creek, all designed as a platform for accelerated growth. Changes included a new leadership, new corporate headquarters, VF state-of-the-art distribution center and common systems platform." Changes made to increase profits. Too bad they couldn't increase the quality (or at least keep it the same).

I bought this to replace an Eagle Creek wallet that I had owned for a long time. Very disappointed in quality and construction. I will not buy this again.

I've had Eagle Creek tri-fold wallets for longer than I can remember. So when my current one reached the point of needing to be replaced, I looked to REI, where I had purchased each of my last two. No luck: they no longer carry the tri-fold. I was pleased to find what appeared to be the same wallet on Amazon. Big mistake! The new model is significantly smaller than the old wallet. I tried to put my money and cards into the new wallet and they don't fit. This is going back to Amazon. And I search on for a functional replacement to my trusty but tattered wallet.

I bought this wallet thinking it would be just like my old one. Unfortunately it isn't. The fabric has no give to it, so the Velcro closures are pulling away from the fabric after just a few weeks of use. What a pity.
