4.0 out of 5 stars Great for ease of mind, but...
I spent two months wearing this belt every day, so I feel as though I can effectively comment on the usefulness of the product. I am an individual with a fine boned frame and small hips, so my comments will be directed towards that. Further, I am in the age group where female pants never come near the navel, so is also affects my review. This was a good purchase, and no...

3.0 out of 5 stars Eagle Creek Deluxe security belt
Purchased two security belts for trip to Peru.Felt comfortable and secure at first but while in Jungle, where it was very wet, the straps slipped in buckle and it was impossible to keep tension on pouch. Finally had to tie knot in strap to prevent it's slipping out. This created an unpleasant feeling bump. Spouse was less bothered by this than I was. Item is not even...

I spent two months wearing this belt every day, so I feel as though I can effectively comment on the usefulness of the product. I am an individual with a fine boned frame and small hips, so my comments will be directed towards that. Further, I am in the age group where female pants never come near the navel, so is also affects my review. This was a good purchase, and no matter which country I was in, with family or in a hostel, I always wore this belt.

PROS
*Great way to keep all important documents in one SAFE place
*Zippered pockets (and mesh dividers) made it easier to divide items
*Had enough room for over $1,500 in cash in varying currencies in bills and coins(so, different weights, thicknesses, and sizes), in addition to my passport, security badge, and 6 cards (credit, ID, insurance), and transportation/tourist function passes
*Material is lightweight
*Item is sturdy and well-built, feels like it will last...and it made it through two months of constant use and still looks new
*I was able to wear it 24 hours/day for two months and had no allergic reactions/adverse side-effects

CONS
*Sticking your hands down your pants to grab money isn't the most attractive or inconspicuous thing to do
*In crowded areas, it can be a hassle to actually get to the items because the money belt is under clothes. Arguably, this is why it IS safe, but I certainly had some weird looks while seemingly fishing in my pants for my money...especially noticeable when in line at busy venue
*Very difficult for women to wear, especially those of us who don't wear pants that come to the waist or loose fitting pants...not the most convenient thing to wear
*Maybe due to my body type, but this slipped down a lot and put a lot of pressure on my abdomen, I adjusted it throughout the day to no avail
*Must be placed carefully, otherwise bending is restricted depending on where your body naturally folds
*Can be irritating to maneuver around when using the restroom...pull it up, or down with pants? No matter which I chose, it was awkward and the buckle popped off quite a few times (and one time almost swung right into the toilet) and this is especially noticeable if carrying lots of coins, as I was

Overall, I recommend this for anyone traveling anywhere (I was in a country with lower crime rates than the USA), including theme parks. I work in an airport and have seen all sorts of odd contraptions for important documents, and still believe this money belt to be the best choice. As happy as I am to no longer wear the thing, the fact that I was able to put up with it for two straight months while hiking through cities and mountains is a testament to the comfort, durability, and safety, and would purchase again/recommend to others.

5.0 out of 5 stars extremely pleased with the security belt, September 1, 2007
The Eagle Creek Deluxe Security Belt is a fine product which meets all my expectations.Wearing it in very hot weather, I have found it to be very comfortable. The belt is well constructed and the price is fair.

5.0 out of 5 stars Money Belt, September 10, 2008
The seller shipped promptly. The product is light-weight, comfortable to wear, and easy to fit under clothing, but also difficult to see (an advantage when one is trying to hide money.)I'm currently studying abroad in Spain, and during one of my first lunches in Madrid I discovered that several of my companions also owned and were wearing the same or similar money belts-and I would have never guessed! I would reccomend this product to anyone that's traveling abroad or even to an urban area that has a reputation of purse snatching, mugging, etc.

An excellent product. Very comfortable since the material which comes into contact with your skin wicks away sweat. Very quick shipping and arrived in great condition. I wouldn't hesitate to order from this company again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product!, August 17, 2008
I bought one of these when I came to Europe back in 2001. I've already used it several times. My family is coming to visit and I ordered some for them also. This product is easy to wear and thin enough to go undetected if you wear it under a shirt or blouse. It's very light you hardly noticce you have it on! Also, it's so important to have your important documentation and money separate from the rest of your luggage. Maybe that goes without saying but my friend had her luggage stolen. The good thing in the whole ordeal was that all her documents and money were with her in her security belt!

5.0 out of 5 stars Worked fine for me., October 5, 2007
I used this on a week long trip to Europe. It worked as expected and I really don't have any complaints. The clasp feels a bit flimsy at first (thin plastic), but never failed and shows no signs of weakening. The waist strap is elastic. As long as you pull it tight enough, it stays well secured. The compartment is larger than it appears. I kept 2 passports, a small stack of Euros, 2 credit cards, and the door card to our hotel room and had ample space. I would estimate that you could fit at least 4 passports stacked, maybe 5. The length of the compartment is enough with even all of that, you would still have plenty of room on the other end. I can't stress how comfortable this thing is. Even when I had it packed out, I was constantly feeling for it (yeah, I know exactly how odd I probably looked). You just can't even feel that it's there. I finally ended up looping the strap around my belt loop just for peace of mind. Overall, highly recommended.

1/16/09. I've just received the Eagle Creek Deluxe Security Belt, but have not used it out yet. I have tried it on and checked it out. All works well. The pouch is very flat with two zippers also very flat which slide well, well stitched, very soft material. The plastic buckle DOES look flimsy, but I've tugged on it and it stays closed. Other reviews have stated the same about the buckle latch. The belt is long with a hemmed end. I plan to cut it to size and maybe even attach velcro tabs to help keep it in place. I purchased this for my daughter to use on an upcoming high school trip to europe. Just to give you reference, I am 5'4", 145lbs and my daugher is about 5'1", 118lbs. It fit us both across the abdomen well. This is pretty flat so it is meant only for passport and money and credit cards--items like that. I'm confident that this will work well for us, and it hides well under a loose blouse or shirt. It feels very soft. Hope this helps!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful travel companion, January 3, 2007
I took this when I backpacked through the Alps and when I honeymooned in Italy and both times it was a life saver. It takes all the worry out of walking through crowded streets! Would recommended this to anyone who is thinking of traveling out of the country!

5.0 out of 5 stars Comfortable, soft and does the job well, February 16, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Just came back from a trip to India and Nepal where I wore this belt all the time. It does fit well under pants and secures pretty well around the waist. You will feel it though as it reduces your mobility to a certain extent and will make you sweat more on the warmer days. This model is a better option than the one that hangs around a neck for one reason - Inconspicuousness.
