The item looks like it is going to work, and the locking mechanism was fairly easy to set, however, the metal loop itself doesn't go down into the body of the lock, it just sits on the surface in a little bit of a groove - this makes the lock look like it could be easily pulled apart.. however, I think it's probably good enough...

My biggest issue with this lock is the deceptive advertising... be aware that there is only ONE lock that comes with this purchase. The picture shows 4, and I've bought sets of 4 before that were around 10 dollars... the write up itself doesn't state how many locks would come with the purchase, so I went on the assumption that it would be 4 as pictured on the display page.

In the end, the product looks like it's going to be an ok lock, but be aware that you are purchasing just one - not four!

In Summary:

I gave this product less than a four for its deceptive advertisement and it's flimsy locking mechanism, but gave it a three because it appears that it will be functional and work as intended. Although I probably would have gone for a product with a status indicator around the same price if I had know that this was a single lock purchase.

This lock is super tough! On a recent trip someone tried breaking into my suitcase. I believe it was during a connection through Houston. The metal "U" shape portion of the lock was bent, but it did not break apart. The lock on my friend's suitcase was also tampered with but it did not break. It was a different type of lock but it wasn't that part that the baggage people were able to break apart, it was the zipper pull on the suitcase that was torn off. Fortunately nothing was taken. So, when buying suitcases, make sure the pulls are very sturdy. I have a Kirkland brand and I noticed the pulls are solidly constructed.

In all fairness I haven't used the item yet, but I needed 3 and somehow only received one. I will still be able to order more before my trip, however I paid for overnight shipping from Amazon Prime and now would need to pay again for same. Will say more after I've used the product. It looks sturdy though. I got the yellow as this was available on Prime. One test will be if the yellow color stays on and doesn't peel off as I have seen before. Wish me luck!
