5.0 out of 5 stars This product is AWESOME - if you use it as intended.
This is a great security travel pocket. It is not an everyday wallet. So let me go over the pros:
- attaches to my belt and is worn inside my pants. No one is getting in my pants without my knowledge. I'm paranoid, so I use both loops.
- Drymax lined. Kinda soft and padded, does not feel icky when the weather is humid or I'm sweaty

I was impressed the reviews, bought it, and took mine to Europe. Big mistake.

Issue #1: After a week of use, one of the straps' stitching came completely undone and fell to pieces. If I had not been using both loops, I would have lost my passport and my money due to this product's inadequate, sub-standard stitching. By the way, I am a very "casual" traveler...

- Fits all the stuff I need when traveling - Passport, cash, credit card

Cons:
- NONE

To address the things that people have complained about:
1. It shows through your pants.
Really? Just how tight are your britches? Don't try to wear this with leggings or jeggings or the painted on pants you wear to the club.

2. Change falls out.
Seriously? You are keeping change in your safe wallet? Dude, pickpockets dont want your quarters and dimes.

3. The zipper zips vertically rather than horizontally.
This is simple geometry. If it zipped the other way along the top, the mesh pockets would be useless. The zipper is at the top in the closed state, just like your pants. If you have problems with your pants coming unzipped, you may want to carry around a safety pin.

4.The idea of a product that loops around your belt and hangs under your pants is great, until you have to go through Security at the airport where they make you take off your belt.
Don't wear a belt to the airport. Don't wear those knee high Chuck Taylors that lace all the way up. Don't wear 3 pairs of door-knocker earrings. Don't wear that awesome shirt with the metal buttons. Also, don't try getting through TSA with a hidden security pocket in your pants. That is asking for a grope-down!

This is a great product. It is intended to be used for carrying things you will RARELY access during the day, but need to have on you. Like... your passport, credit card, large bills. Put your 'walking around' money in your pants pocket! You will look like the biggest tourist if you go to a store and pull this out of your pants at the register. That is a great way to let everyone know it's there and you are just asking to be MUGGED instead of pick-pocketed. Travel safe, travel smart! Ciao!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good but not perfect, April 15, 2008
By
I have actually bought this product and used it on a 2 week backpacking trip in Europe. I am a slim female. I liked the concept much more than traditional money belts and felt very safe while using it. HOWEVER, I would not recommend this product for many young women. If you wear jeans or pants that are tight at the thighs, like I do, then the outline of the wallet will clearly show. I used it for about half of my trip and by that time, I felt safe enough to discontinue using it.

It is big enough inside to fit a passport as well as money, cards, etc. The flaw is not in the design but simply that my pants are tight on the thighs and that doesn't work well with this product. I do recommend this to men and anyone who cannot stand a regular money belt but still wants security. It appears durable and is certainly functional. I will be using it again this summer, but only when I absolutely have to.

1.0 out of 5 stars Piece of Junk, September 16, 2009

I was impressed the reviews, bought it, and took mine to Europe. Big mistake.

Issue #1: After a week of use, one of the straps' stitching came completely undone and fell to pieces. If I had not been using both loops, I would have lost my passport and my money due to this product's inadequate, sub-standard stitching. By the way, I am a very "casual" traveler and this piece had very little wear when it came undone.

Issue #2: For all of the review's about the product's design excellence, there is a no-brainer detail somebody completely forgot to address: the zipper zips vertically rather than horizontally. So, if the zipper is compromised while under your pants, bye-bye passport and money. This makes no sense at all.

Issue #3: The idea of a product that loops around your belt and hangs under your pants is great, until you have to go through Security at the airport where they make you take off your belt. Bye-bye passport and money. This product should be designed to hang on belt loops, not a belt.

Very disappointed with this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the ticket., February 2, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I leave for China in a few days and this just arrived. I didn't want a bulky money belt or a holster bag and this seemed to be just the ticket. I hadn't read all of the reviews before, but now I have. As one reviewer said, I too was surprised to see the two mesh pockets on the inside. Since it is not mentioned in the description I uploaded a photo showing the pockets. I do agree with one reviewer on the zipper. It is vertical and you pull it up to close it. It would be better if it pulled down to close so as to better prevent it from easing open during your travels. The odds of that happening are probably minimal, but there is always a chance. That is such a minor quibble that I gave it five stars anyway. I've been wearing it for practice since it arrived with passport, cards and a bunch of money inside and I really do forget it is there. This will certainly give me piece of mind in China. To avoid pulling it out every time I need money I do intend to carry a few renminbi in my wallet, but the bulk of my money will be kept safe in this pocket.

wearing this I felt very secure in Europe for two weeks. Many times we were pressing against bodies in subways or buses with your hands bracing yourself on the bar or handle overhead, exposing your pockets. I never felt "tugged" by an intruder. I think when they see the evidence of a money protector such as this, they feel defeated and do not even try to take it. My passport, cash money and credit cards were safe. The only way a thief could have defeated it was to knock me out and take it when unconscious.

4.0 out of 5 stars It does the job, and rather well., June 26, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
We recently traveled to the Pacific Northwest to visit family. Being so so close to Canada, I wanted to take my passport in case I needed it (a fortuitous decision, as we traveled to Victoria, BC for a day). The travel gear hidden pocket stored my passport and extra cash quite well throughout our two week vacation, to the point that most of the time I did not realize I was wearing it. My wife commented that she could not tell I was wearing it inside my jeans. It ain't fancy, but it does the job it claims to do, and does it rather well.

5.0 out of 5 stars For me, it did the job better than a money belt, October 17, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Amazon's new "free return" policy for some items is great when you're not sure whether a product is going to meet your personal needs well. Amazon offered "free return" on both the Eagle Creek "hidden pocket" and on the R Steves' silk money belt. So we ordered both to see which we preferred. The R Steves silk money belt just didn't fit me well or feel as comfortable as the EC "HIDDEN Pocket". My traveling partner however, liked the money belt better than the EC hidden pocket. After 6 weeks in Europe, we each were pleased with our choices. The EC "hidden pocket" is well constructed, sturdy, durable and not too bulky. It has a loop that fits around your belt, and then you tuck the pouch under your pants/shirt. KEEP IN MIND: if you won't wear a belt, this pouch would be difficult to use in a "hidden" way. Of course, any "hidden" pouch--even money belt--is not real convenient to get things in/out frequently: after all, it's designed to be "hidden" to keep your passport, credit cards, extra cash out of your pockets where they can easily be pickpocketed. And we saw many pickpockets working the tourist crowds, so we were glad we had hidden pouches. Big enough to hold your passport plus cash & cards without being too bulky.

4.0 out of 5 stars over all good, October 15, 2009
This review is from: Eagle Creek Travel Gear Hidden Pocket (Apparel)
does what is promised, i wish it were just a bit smaller or that they had a smaller option for women since our pants are usually tighter and the large pocket can be bulky, but over all decent it does what it sets out to do

4.0 out of 5 stars Great product, January 17, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I like it. From someone who has been a victim of pickpockets twice in my life, I think this wallet serves it's purpose.

1. The material of the side that is against your skin is comfortable. I barely notice that it's there at all. I mean, it's not rubbing against my skin or irritating it or making it itchy. This is a big plus.

2. I like the 2 different mesh pockets that's inside. This was a surprise to me for it is not mentioned in the description. I put and organize my cards there effectively.

3. It will only get bulky if you put too much in it. I am happy with it's capacity. Cash, some coins, all my cards, and receipts are all good inside. I make sure to take out my receipts that I want to keep when I get home.

4. Pulling out of my pants takes getting used to. At first, it's kinda embarrassing for I putting my hand down my crotch and pull something out...wink, wink! But I get over it. A very small price to pay for safety.

5. Another small price to pay, those 2 fabrics where you insert your belt or the string of my sweat pants will not match your belt most of the time. If you are dressing fancy for a night with some colorful fancy belt, these 2, black and tan straps, will kinda hurt your belt look. But again, I'll take it.

6. I guess the only thing that I can imagine, and this has not happen yet, is if I would forget to put it back my pants if I am in a hurry. Say just paid for a train ticket and trying to catch the train that's just about to leave. Worse if I forget to close the zipper and I'm sure all the contents will spill out if I run for that train.

4.0 out of 5 stars Comfortable peace of mind, December 10, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Eagle Creek Travel Gear Hidden Pocket (Apparel)
I used this for 2 weeks in Vietnam. I found it to be very comfortable in the heat and did
not bother me at all under my pants. It laid flat and was unnoticeable and gave me piece of mind that
I would not get pick pocketed. (And yes...several people did try to reach in my pockets in crowded situations.)

Of course it's a little difficult to get out if you want to pay for something but I only kept the
bulk of money in this one and small spending change in my pocket.

It was well constructed as far as I was concerned.
I will use it on other foreign trips.
