Specifically designed for the needs of a traveler--with security, convenience, and comfort features throughout--the Eagle Creek Truist 55L backpack is a terrific companion for longer trips and multi-activity adventures. The Truist 55L is equipped with the company's X-ACT Fixed Suspension system, which includes a removable X-frame made with HDPE frame sheet and pre-curved, aircraft-grade aluminum stays. As a result, the frame is sturdy yet supportive, especially when teamed with the ergonomically contoured shoulder straps, adjustable sternum strap, and pulley-assist hip belt. The X-ACT Fixed Suspension system is designed to fit a wide range of body types and to transfer the load evenly across the torso. In addition, the Truist 55L's 4,125-cubic-inch interior (when expanded) is easy to pack, with a full front panel, a hybrid zippered and drawstring top, and a zippered bottom compartment with an internal stowaway divider. Perhaps the handiest feature, however, is the included Modular Travel Pouch. Designed to fit comfortably on the lumbar, the front, or the back, the pouch detaches easily so you can carry your essential items on small day trips and leave the rest of your gear at the hostel. The pouch includes such additional features as an exterior bungee that functions as an in-transit laundry line, an audio portal, a fleece-lined electronics pocket, a zippered passport pocket, a key fob, and a pen slot.

Of course, security is also a concern while traveling, which is why the pack lets you secure all of the main entry points with a single lock. And should the weather turn nasty, the Truist 55L comes with a detachable rain-safe cover (the cover also provides security in crowded areas). Other details include a fast grab handle for hoisting the bag into overhead compartments, lash points for securing extra gear, exterior side pockets for storing quick-grab items, support for Eagle Creek's Pack-It organizing system, and a top expansion collar that provides extra capacity for last-minute packing.

This backpack is really well thought out and very flexible. The quality is outsdanding. In grey, it looks classy enough to serve as a travel bag. It is also probably one of the best deals around. One very minor complaint I have is that the pouch on top of the bag is hard to keep straight - it keeps sliding all over.

Loving this pack so far. Excellent construction, everything you would expect from Eagle Creek. I'm a huge fan of the brand having previously owned one of their lightweight wheeled duffels which was one of the sturdiest pieces of luggage I've ever used. Fully loaded, this pack is huge, but partially loaded, you can compress it down so that it's small enough to pass off as carry-on luggage. The side loading panel makes packing and unpacking incredibly easy! Previously I've used packs that only open on top - I remember what a pain it used to be to get something at the bottom of the pack. Usually my laptop, which I'd have to take out for airport security screening. Then putting everything back in. The last time I went through security with this pack, I just unzipped the front panel and pulled out my laptop in seconds, after passing through the screener, just popped it back in. The two security points make locking up a breeze. Size wise, I'm 5'4" and 49kg and after adjusting the suspension system to the smallest size and tightening most of the straps almost all the way, it fits well and feels great. I didn't use it with the pack that goes on top but so far it does seem to slide around a bit, as noted in the previous review. It does look like it'll make a great day-bag, slung over the body crosswise. I got this in green as the price difference was quite significant, but it looks good and makes it that much easier to spot on the luggage carousel. Am very pleased with this purchase.
