User-friendliness lacking,
I drove to a travel store to check this multi-function clock out and came away very disappointed. The instructions are difficult to read and do not provide sufficient explanation as to how to perform certain functions (e.g., currency conversion). There were no instructions as to how to change the batteries, let alone any description of the battery type. I called the 800 number listed on the box and learned that you need to remove two screws to access the batteries. I asked whether there were more detailed instructions on Eagle Creek's web site as to how to operate the device. I was told there were none. A final issue is that the icons on the buttons on the keyboard are difficult to read, even with reading glasses. I ended up not buying it.

This is an easy to use international clock, alarm, and calculator. The alarm will not sound if the clam shell is closed, a nifty feature if you've forgotten to disarm the alarm when you put it in your luggage (who really wants an alarming beep going off as you pass through security!?!).

It only pretends to be an alarm clock,

This was a gift as part of a travel themed shower. The shape is nice and compact, and the battery has lasted nearly 3 years so far and still going. It knows the date, but the time keeps speeding up.However, it's missing what I feel to be a vital part of functioning as a travel alarm clock. It does NOT light up! I cannot read it in the dark, or in semi-darkness. I also can't turn it off to save the battery. I took it on my first cruise, initially pleased to have it when I discovered there wasn't a clock in the room, but I soon learned how difficult it is to find a small beeping electronic device in near total darkness. At least when I do find it I know what the temperature is! It has been relegated to my guest room as a temporary timekeeping device, and I've finally gotten over the gift guilt to research a replacement.

Everything is great except for two things.1. The hinge is very flimsy. It can break very easily. As the first one I received was broken during shipping. 2. Closes too easily. The hinge does not allow the clock to stay open, I found it closes extremely easily, too easily. If you were to hit the snooze button it would close and this alarm does not go off when it is closed, which is good for going through security, but not good for waking up. Positive: I really liked the functions of the clock; they just need to fix the hinge, then it would be awesome. Note: I did return this item. |
