Excellent concept, average execution,
This review is from: EAGLE CREEK UnderCover Leg Stash Security Pouch (Apparel)
I first bought the Neck Pouch, but because wearing it around my neck was uncomfortable and obvious, I took to carrying it in a thigh pocket in my travel pants. After an unsuccessful attack by a gang of child thieves in Paraguay, I decided to buy the Leg Stash because I imagined it would provide greater security. I continue to believe the Leg Stash is more secure and is the best bet for securely carrying cash, cards and travel documents.
The big problem with the Leg Stash is poor durability. After only 4 months of continuous daily use, I was having a serious problem with the Velcro straps losing their grip and the Leg Stash falling down my leg. I contacted Eagle Creek about the problem and they told me to return the item for a replacement. Update...after about seven months of continuous daily usage, it is very difficult to keep the Leg Stash in place, one or both of the Velcro straps quickly loses its grip. Update...Eagle Creek replaced the original Leg Stash at no cost. I bought a second one, and similar to the first one, it began to lose its grip after 2 1/2 months of continuous daily usage and became difficult to keep in place after 4 months. In spite of these problems, I stand behind the Leg Stash. It proved its worth in Mexico City. I was jumped and my pockets emptied but the thieves missed the Leg Stash, preventing a disastrous loss of my travel documents, my bank and credit cards, and most of my cash. Update...The concept of storing all travel documents, bank and credit cards and most cash in the leg stash proved its worth again. Pickpockets in Dar es Salaam managed to take a small amount of cash from my pocket, but nothing else was lost. Update...I suspect that in order to make the Velcro straps comfortable on the leg, Eagle Creek uses a soft gripping material on the straps. This increases comfort but sacrifices durability. The very act of removing the Leg Stash by tearing the straps from the stash gradually destroys the gripping material on the straps. This destructive process can be slowed considerably by affixing the straps once and subsequently sliding the Leg Stash on and off the leg.

Comfortable and hidden,

After a few minutes I forgot that I had this strapped to my lower leg. It was comfortable and well hidden. It held a spare debit card, credit card, some American currency and some extra Euros with room to spare. We added our passports/backup copies and some extra currency when we left Rome and took the train to Florence, and again when we took the train from Florence to Venice and finally from Venice to our flight home. We kept most valuables in hotel room safes when we were not traveling.
My only negative observation was that the velcro didn't seem particularly sturdy after three weeks of on/off with this leg stash--something my wife can easily fix with her talent on a sewing machine. In spite of this, I'm giving this product 5 stars for funtionality, comfort and effectiveness. Remember, these products are not meant for you to keep your everyday spending money/debit cards, etc. You shouldn't need to hike up your pant-leg to pay for lunch or the purchase of a vacation momento. These are used to hold backup items (in case you should be pick-pocketed/robbed) and as a 'safe' when you are moving between hotels/places to stay.

Good product but fragile,

I bought this product for my trip to Europe last year. It was exactly what I wanted, fit well, just enough space to carry what I needed, light and thin enough to be easily hidden. However it seems quite fragile. A week into my two week trip, the main zipper broke (which seems to be a common problem). So it worked well, but it broke after very little use.
I'd still consider buying another anyway.

I used this on a trip to Europe, and I mean I actually used it. Some men approached me, one acting like a police officer demanding to see my passport and money. I went along with it because you really don't have a choice they pretty much copy what the real police do, they have badges and everything. But in my wallet I carried in my pocket I only had a few small bills, and a little bit of emergency money in my hidden leg money belt. Not that I let them hold my passport or even my wallet, but when they took a look in my wallet and seen I had the equivalency of about $5.00 they thinked me and walked away. This money belt will not save your life or even keep you from a scam, but if you watch your surroundings it will keep your extra cash safe, at least until they get wise to tourist keeping a secret stash of safety cash.As far as the money belt itself the Velcro leaves little to be desired, I put mine on and then sewed the straps in place permanently. But you can hardly tell your wearing it, it is very comfortable a little difficult to get to if you need that extra cash for a quick purchase. But that's not really the point, the money belt is typically there for a cab ride back to the room, if you lose your wallet somehow.
