5.0 out of 5 stars Work well - light as described
These locks work fine for airport security - they were not cut the 4 times I checked my bag. I bought them for an upcoming backpacking trip to Europe and I am definitely impressed with how much lighter weight they are than other locks I have seen.

3.0 out of 5 stars Difficult to read numbers, photo displayed is misleading
1. The locks work.
2. The numbers on the lock are very hard to read unless you happen to be holding it at just the right angle under good lighting. The picture shown is deceiving in that the number dials are a very shiny chrome, and the numbers don't stand out. Eagle Creek should use black dials with white numbers.
3. The lock can be hard to set. I set it...

5.0 out of 5 stars Goldilocks of the Locks, October 12, 2010

Luggage locks always seem to be a problem I can't solve. Too big, too heavy, too small. My luggage is super light so why do I want heavy locks? I just got a bunch of these in cherry red and suddenly I am no longer the Goldilocks of the locks. Perfect size, super easy to set, very light yet not flimsy. So long as these locks do not jam or fall apart or reset themselves in the middle of the night to combinations that are a mystery to me (what your locks don't do that?) my lock problem has been solved. I will report back later to let you know the next chapter in the story.

Update: April 27,2011. The locks have been battered around by airport personnel, by tour personnel, by hotel personnel and are still functioning perfectly. I am very happy with these. One reviewer had trouble reading the numbers on the locks and the instructions. I have not had that problem at all but then I do not need reading glasses. If you do, that might be an important issue for you.

I set it to a different combination due to hard to read and incomplete instructions - I was only able to salvage the lock by trying each number in sequence until I found the correct combo. Then I could reset it again.
4. The instructions for setting the lock combo are far too small to read and the diagrams are not easy to understand. I believe they left out part of step 3 to pull up on the hasp before turning it back clockwise back to the top part based on their diagram.

Eagle Creek should make a youtube video to provide an example of how to set the lock pointing out the little protrusion and where it has to be to set the lock correctly.

Lock is excellent. Unfortuniatly it arrived AFTER my trip. Said it would take three to five days to get here. Took three weeks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Keeps it closed, January 1, 2011
This review is from: Eagle Creek Travel Gear Superlight TSA Lock (Apparel)
I recently bought this lock along with two others for a trip I was taking. I didn't buy them to keep TSA agents out of my stuff or anything like that. I simply wanted to keep the Christmas presents that were traveling with us a secret until Christmas Day. So, as far as my use of the lock was concerned it worked out great. Setting the lock was a piece of cake, getting it out of the package was easy too (unlike the other locks I purchased that were a different type).

1.0 out of 5 stars Garbage - don't waste your money, December 28, 2011

This was a piece of junk. The instructions for setting a combination were unclear, and apparently once set you cannot reset. One of the locks was completely inoperable after setting a combination. And by "inoperable," I mean it wouldn't lock.

These locks also feel very flimsy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worked great!, December 20, 2011

These locks were great. Light weight, which I appreciated since I was backpacking. Kept my stuff safe while we were in hostels. Before I purchased I read some reviews in which people had trouble setting the combination. As a result I was VERY careful when I set it and I had no trouble (Thanks for the heads up all!) I found them easy to use. Was able to get the locks open in a hurry when I needed to.

3.0 out of 5 stars A good lock with one serioius problem, December 9, 2011
I purchased two of these for some extensive travel. They are sturdy and well constructed and seem secure enough. The one problem I had with these locks, and it's serious enough that I won't buy them again, is that it's very easy to accidentally reset them to a different combination when they are open. I now have two of these that I'm going to either trash or have to go through every 3 digit combination until I stumble upon the correct inadvertently new one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wrong instructions to re-set lock combination, September 21, 2011
Diagram for instruction step no. 2 is incorrect and does not match to the written instruction. Otherwise, it is light and seems breakable. It will serve the purpose as a temporary deterrent for break-ins.
