5.0 out of 5 stars great carry-on!
I purchased this after much searching for the perfect product. Needed something to carry EVERYTHING for a 10-day trip to China. I did not want to bother with a full-sized suitcase. When I first saw it, I was sure everything would not fit but it did. Yes, I packed light but was still able to fit everything necessary including four pairs of pants, six tops, first aid...

2.0 out of 5 stars Great Piece of luggage, but it is not what is shown in photo
This appears to be a very well made, light-weight carry-on piece of luggage. I purchased it as a gift for my spouse. The picture linked to the description on Amazon is apparently this bag with a multitude of accessories that are not included and are not available from Amazon or even Eagle Creek. The hanger shown is for "show" only and there is no compatible product...

5.0 out of 5 stars great carry-on!, June 6, 2009
I purchased this after much searching for the perfect product. Needed something to carry EVERYTHING for a 10-day trip to China. I did not want to bother with a full-sized suitcase. When I first saw it, I was sure everything would not fit but it did. Yes, I packed light but was still able to fit everything necessary including four pairs of pants, six tops, first aid supplies, toiletries, shoes, and more. Great zippered (netted) compartments kept everything visible and totally organized. Shoes were zipped out of the way of everything else in their own special compartment. The carry-on was unbelievably light weight and rolled very easily. Several handles besides the pull-out made it a breeze to pick up and go as needed. I had to navigate two train stations that had lots of steps. The item was easy to pick up and/or bumped up or down the steps with equal ease -- no twisting or turning. It rolled down the airplane aisle with ease and was also easy to pick up and stow in the overhead compartments...no pushing or shoving necessary and I did not fear dropping it on my head (or someone else's) as I lifted it up. It really is the perfect product. I am delighted with every aspect of this purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars worth the money, October 11, 2009

My old 20 inch weighed too much, so after a lot of research, I got this one. It really is light - even when full. I am *not* strong, but even packed to overflowing, I was able to put this in the overhead compartment. It easily held enough clothes for a 5 day trip including a rain coat and sweat shirt.

Like all Eagle Creek luggage, packing is a dream - I love the roomy inside the upper flap compartments, the larger one really keeps ironed things from getting all wrinkled. The other thing I learned the hard way - never get wheeled luggage that doesn't have the wheels at the very ends of the sides. While the old 20" would always get wobbly (even on flat ground), this one can be taken down steps without problem.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great choice in carry-on, June 25, 2010

I went looking for a new carry-on because my older one was just a little too big & I knew it was just a matter of time before it was recognized as such.
I was worried about losing some packing space with the new smaller one, but I just hate the pitfalls of checking luggage.
I bought this one because of the reviews & weight. When it arrived, I liked how it looked & felt satisfied with the quality. I didn't order their packing system, but followed its cues on how to pack it. When I started packing, boy was I surprised how much I got into it.
1 long sleeve shirt
2 short sleeved shirts
9 T-shirts
2 polo styled shirts
9 underwears
10 pairs of cotton socks
1 shorts
2 pants
1 jeans
1 pair flip-flops
electric shaver + plug, hair timmer + plug, deodorant, toothbrush & brush.
All this just weighed 27 lbs.
Way more stuff than my 'bigger' carry-on. How? I have no idea. I suspect there is some twilight zone thing going on here.

Love this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best carry on ever!, May 2, 2010
This review is from: Eagle Creek Travel Gear Tarmac 20 Carry-On (Apparel)
I am a "carry-on only" traveler, and I have tried them all. This is the best rolling carry-on I've ever owned. This is quality luggage down to the last detail. The retractable handle is sturdy and has a comfortable grip. The wheels are great and roll nicely. One of my favorite features is the support on the bottom which keeps the bag from tipping forward when "parked". Roomy compartments are very easy to access and have great zippers. Being a 20" size, it fits easily into overhead bins. I love this bag! If I lost it today, I would purchase another just like it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great carry-on rolling bag, July 26, 2010

Having been very pleased with my Eagle Creek Travel Gear Tarmac 25 Wheeled Travel Bag, I was confident that this carry-on sized version of Eagle Creek's rolling bag would be well-made and sturdy. I haven't been disappointed.

Until recently, my air travel carry-on was a lightweight duffel-style bag. Recently, sore shoulders have caused me to use wheeled carry-ons. The Eagle Creek Travel Gear Tarmac 22 Carry-On has been perfect for US domestic flights. But the stricter carry-on limits of some foreign-based airlines - the Tarmac 22 is, sadly, just oversize for those - led me to this slightly smaller bag.

This bag slips into the carry-on sizing boxes for British Airways without a hitch, and although I packed it full, I easily lifted it into the overhead bin on my flights. The large exterior pocket accommodated my netbook in its protective sleeve. The inner compartments help keep things from getting jumbled up. This bag is easy to roll without getting stuck or tipping over. It has a well-designed bracket on the bottom that serves two functions: to keep the bag sitting securely when "parked," and as a handle for pulling the bag out of an overhead bin or off a luggage carousel. It's a nimble and compact bag to take along for train and plane trips. I expect to enjoy it for years to come.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Quality Bag - Makes Your Travels Easier and ORGANIZED!, November 14, 2010

This review is from: Eagle Creek Travel Gear Tarmac 20 Carry-On (Apparel)
This is my 2nd Eagle Creek Bag. After another instance two weeks ago on a trip to NYC i was forced to check in my bag - so I started shopping for a 20" bag. Unfortunately my 1st eagle creek bag - 25" was becoming a carry-on issue (I purchased the bag before all the airlines started charging checked bag fees)

As a young professional male i wanted to initially look into a designer carry on bag but with more research i was turned back onto eagle creek. Quality, organization, and sexiness.

I got the coffee bag for my Vegas trip this this past weekend and it looks great! Thank you amazon prime! My previous eagle creek bag was green and this color looks much better. Inside it's a nice tan and coffee/red interior lining. Very good looking. Promise you will be impressed.

Of course i was already familiar with the Pack-it System but this bag had the compartments built in so it made it so much more easily to manage/pack.

Only problem i had and it's due to the size limitation the folder 18 - wouldn't fit in very well. You had to just squish it in there with a pair of shoes unfortunately. only way around it is to just not pack in the shoes there OR not use the folder 18.

So I'm going to use this for my next 2week trip to Europe this spring. My previous eagle creek did not disappoint and so far with my experience with this VERY light bag it will hold up just as well. I love the wheels. Moves along the ground like butter.

So this is what i use now that work flawlessly with this bag. Eagle Creek Travel Gear Wallaby II Organizer

Eagle Creek Travel Gear Pack-It 2 Sided Cube

Eagle Creek Travel Gear Pack-It Folder 18 Organizer

AND ONE MORE THING

this bag doesn't have a side pouch for water but i used this color matching carabinerMetolius Element Key Lock Belay Carabinerand my camelbak water bottle (handy in europe last year) CamelBak BPA-Free Better Bottle with Bite Valve

DO NOT CHEAP OUT - yes it's more than the other bags on here but it's absolutely worth it - those cheap bags won't last for years. You know those feel cheap and generic. Do yourself a favor and buy this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Piece of Luggage, October 13, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Eagle Creek Travel Gear Tarmac 20 Carry-On (Apparel)
I spent hours reading reviews of luggage and looking both on line and in stores for a new carry-on. I am so glad that I chose the Tarmac 20! It handles easily, both when rolling over varied terrain and when lifting into overhead bins, looks great, packs like a dream and holds so much more than you might think when first looking at it. I was able to pack for three weeks of Alaska travel with ease. The Tarmac held a rain jacket, rain pants, hiking boots and socks, 3 pairs of long pants, 1 pair of yoga pants, two polar fleece jackets, 5 long sleeve shirts, 3 short sleeve shirts, personal items, books and I still had room to bring home souvenirs! I recently used it as my only luggage for a 5 week road trip and again was amazed at all I could fit in.

It is sturdy, well constructed, looks great and so worth the cost.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid carry on, October 3, 2010

This bag is a solid carry on. With careful packing (I'm partial to the wrapped bundle method), you can stretch it to get ~10-14 days worth of clothes in this bag. That may be a little extreme, but the bag itself is great. Solid, smooth rolling wheels for getting all the way to the last gate, and easily fits in overhead (except of course in small regional jets). Very happy with my purchase and am glad on paying a premium for this quality bag vs. a cheaper alternative.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tough, Roomy- Best Luggage Purchase, December 18, 2010
This review is from: Eagle Creek Travel Gear Tarmac 20 Carry-On (Apparel)
I bought this product at REI a couple days before leaving for a 4 day trip. Guess I was mistaken that this is actually a 6-7 day bag for me. Before I was using a Kelty carry-on sized bag, however it didnt have wheels. Lo and behold, I got tired of toting that rock between gates and all over airports around the US. The design is sturdy, warranty is unconditional, and its light. The only problem I face being 6'3" is my shoes dont fit in the "shoe compartment." No sweat though, they fit in the compartment above just fine.
