love it, April 29, 2008
I am so pleased with this bag. It is perfect for overnights. I am going to Italy this summer and I am pairing this with the EAGLE CREEK Tarmac Bag 20" so I can take both as carry on. I made sure that this flight bag is under the required dimensions for the 2nd carry on. It slips right over the handle of the Tarmac and they make a great unit. Eagle Creek products are so well-made, functional and aesthetically pleasing that it is definitely a pleasure to own them. Plus, their life-time guarantee-no matter what- is very reassuring. Worth the price.

Very well-made and useful travel bag, January 2, 2010
I've had this bag in the Palm Green color since early 2007; Eagle Creek may have tweaked it a little after they made mine, because the product listed here is called the "08 Tarmac" flight bag. The dimensions are identical to mine (I still have the original store tag for comparison), although the type of nylon fabric is stated differently. I've really used this bag a lot, and it's a great carry-on. I also have the
Eagle Creek Travel Gear Tarmac 25 Wheeled Travel Bag in Palm Green, and they work well together. The Tarmac 25 is of course not a carry-on, but this flight bag has a large fabric panel on its back, open at each end, that slips securely over the extended handle of the larger suitcase. When slipped together like that, they form one very easy to maneuver unit - the Tarmac 25's wheels are wonderfully sturdy and stable. (When my traveling companions with other kinds of rolling bags were having trouble with theirs tipping over or wobbling, my Eagle Creek bags were rolling along just fine.)
This bag has easily accommodated a 13" notebook PC (lately replaced by a netbook), along with my carry-on toiletries, medicines, other gadgets and gear including digital cameras, a small fabric packing cube with a change of clothes, and heaven knows what else. It could have handled more, but would have been a little heavy. It came with a wonderfully padded shoulder strap, although the shape of the bag makes it awkward for me to use the shoulder strap. The grab handles at the top are comfortable for me to carry. It was easy to access things while at the airport and in flight. Usually this bag would fit under the seat in front of me - which was a bonus for those flights where I knew I'd want to get things out of it while in the air.
In three years this bag has been to several countries. Several times I have checked it for my flights home from longer foreign vacations - flew out with only the Tarmac 25 as a checked bag but acquired souvenirs and added this as my second checked bag coming home (I used a smaller foldup backpack as a carryon for those times). The zippers to the main compartment (the top flap) can be locked, and I've used a (TSA-compatible) lock when checking the bag. This bag has come through all those checked flights just fine, as well as some car trips. It still looks as good as new.
My only gripe about this bag isn't it's fault, it's that I'm having some shoulder problems and carrying anything much through airports (and all the waiting times) is becoming a problem. So I'm going to be getting a small wheeled carry-on bag and probably leaving this one at home for the next trip.

Handy and versatile, January 20, 2012
I bought this bag specifically for flights on small commuter planes with under-sized overhead storage units. The bag has multiple storage pockets making it quite versatile. It fits perfectly in those tiny overhead compartments. The shoulder strap is wide and comfortable. Eagle Creek makes great stuff and this is no exception.
