Unfortunately, I was never able to see Saxon live until the tour for 'Power And The Glory' (opening, along with Fastway, for Iron Maiden on the 'Piece Of Mind' tour); how I would have LOVED to witness Saxon in all their onstage glory when this magnificent album was recorded; the timing was absolutely perfect. You know how some live albums sound 'forced,' and 'cleaned-up' (I'm thinking of the majority of Rush's live albums here, unfortunately)? This one actually sounds like 'you were there.' I'm thinking of Kiss 'Alive' here, as well as Rush's 1st live album) Every track is excellent, and is deserving to be here; however, here's the reason it only gets 4 stars instead of 5...I bought this on vinyl (import copy) when it first came out, and it is a prime example of the 'one album where it shoulda been two' syndrome (I have the same issue with Motorhead 'No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith' and Judas Priest 'Unleashed In The East,' but I digress...) - the band clearly had enough material recorded for a double-disc set, but I understand that double-disc sets are expensive BOTH for the bands and the fans. That being said, I would have loved to hear 'Backs To The Wall,' 'Stallions Of The Highway,' 'Suzy Hold On,' 'Street Fighting Gang' among others represented here; I have no idea if they were doing those songs on the tour, but I would have to think that this was recorded while they were headlining tours rather than opening for larger acts, so a longer/double album would have been welcome. But, that small pittance aside, this album is a must-have for Saxon fans, and is definitely a wonderful starting point for anyone curious about the band and their early material. It still stands up today...and they're playing here in Phoenix later this month!!! At a dinky little club...oh boy!!!

D-mn good live album! Right up there with Accept's "Staying A Life",Dokken's "Beast From The East" and JP's "Unleashed In The East".Saxon "Eagle Has Landed" leaves its "Eagle PT.2" and "Eagle PT.3" follow ups in the dust.Still sounds good after all these years and like a fine wine it has aged very well....Enough Said.

Saxon's The Eagle Has Landed, is one of the great live heavy metal albums.
It captures the band as hungry rising stars. The performances and sound are both great. You can feel the energy that must have been in the air that night. The set list is classic.

Great Album!
Buy it!

If you're into metal and you never heard Saxon, you need this album in your collection NOW! This was my first exposure to the band, and with the extra tracks that weren't included on the original 1982 album (and one being "Dallas, 1 PM") you really need to check this out.

I can hem and haw about how Saxon never got their just desserts. Whatever. This album shows a great rock and roll band who wrote songs about the road, or whatever whim Biff Byford had on his mind.

Other than the great music on this album, my favorite part is the in-between song banter and conversations he has with the crowds ("You're not getting tired, are ya?" CROWD: "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!", Biff: "There's 40-thousand watts here, you know that, don'tcha?"), especially calling out to the balcony and pitting the floor vs. the balcony in the sing-along section of "Wheels of Steel". Awesome.
