5.0 out of 5 stars Highly Recommended! A+++++++++++
I purchased OddsR as a gift for my wife this past December. We first played it with family and friends on New Years Day. The age range of those playing was 13 to the late 50's, including older teens in college, thus a disparate age group was represented. After setting up and explaining the rules, we broke up into teams and proceeded with play.

The play was fast enough to keep up interest yet paced so that one could enjoy and even savor each round, especially if successful. The questions were both thought provoking and quite amusing at the same time. Well thought out and difficult enough to challenge the most fastidious of minds yet not beyond the comprehension of the younger players. Thus, a game conducive to
family as well as adult only play. Unusual in board games.

When the game was completed, all involved breathed a sigh of satisfaction and spoke in reverence of the game and in anticipation of the next time we could play. My college age son took the game back to college with him and played several times with his roommates (all quite intelligent). I was informed that they loved the game and the challenge and amusement it
provided and looked forward to playing it when time allowed. The betting as well as the intellectual aspect of OddsR seemed to appeal to their sense of gaming as well as "battle of the wits".

The author of the game was obviously an irreverent sort, yet bordering on genius in the manner he concocted the game theme and play. I think this game will go down as one of the classics in Board games for years to come. Highly recommended!

We played Odds'R at a family gathering a few days ago and I was really impressed. We have a large family with quite an age range and everyone was able to play along and had a blast.

The whole lottery ticket idea was very creative and led to a lot of friendly competition. The questions were really interesting and it was fun to bet against my family's abilities to guess the answers.

I would definitely recommend this as a party game to anyone who enjoys a little rivalry and trivia type games.

This is a great party game. When it's your turn, you have to guess the right "odds". This game impressed even the board game aficionados in our group. This is well worth the money - you'll have a blast every time you play!

This game is fun on many levels. Players more around the board by correctly answering questions, such as "what are the odds of a man having breast reduction surgery" (higher than you think!) with multiple choice answers. Bets are placed on whether the current player knows the answer to the question. (It was very funny to see other players lose their money when they'd bet against me!)

Overall, an awesome game! My dad would like a game like this for Father's Day. All the facts - and there are LOTS of them - are real. So the adage is true - truth really IS stranger than fiction!

This game is fantastic. My friends and I had a great time with it, and have played it a bunch of times since. The questions are really smart and interesting, and the gameplay with the betting is intuitive and fun.

I highly recommend picking up a copy. I'm grabbing an extra for my cousin who will be starting college soon.

I asked for this game as a birthday present -- and got it! I love board games, and the packaging and description of this game sold me. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed and aren't terribly likely to play again.

I agree with the other reviewers in one sense: the questions themselves are interesting and kind of fun. BUT, the rules of the game are unnecessarily complex and, to some extent, flawed. Also, even though the instructions suggest an alternative for shorter game play, the game is exceedingly long. (Our game w/4 people took a little over two hours).

COMPLEX: On each turn, the active player rolls dice and moves around the board. The player to his left then takes a card and announces a lottery number. (Players have lottery tickets.) Then, a question is read. Each player looks at the answer and then bets whether the active player will get it right or wrong. Then, the answer is revealed and players either lose their bets or collect their winnings. Then, if the active player got the question right and landed on an action spot, he or she performs that action. And if that action results in the player landing on another action spot, he or she performs that action, too. If he or she got it wrong, he or she puts a "dinger" on his or her game piece. It's a lot of stuff to remember. Not overwhelming, but it takes a game with a simple premise and buries it beneath some silly details. We found ourselves forgetting to do the action spots or do the "dingers" on occasion.

FLAWED: My main complaint about the game is that it's somewhat flawed. The premise of the game is to bet on players' answers to "odds are" questions. BUT, at the end of the game, the winner will almost certainly be determined by who won the most lotteries and/or who crossed the finish line first -- regardless of how he or she did answering questions and/or betting on others' answers. The lottery pool, which "collects" all of the incorrect wagers, gets HUGE. It's disproportionately large, compared to the money that changes hands on a typical question. So, the real strategy, if you can call it that, is to win the lottery. Your game skills really have little to do with it. When we played, the winner was the person who won the lottery twice. Our second place winner was the person who crossed the finish line first, which also results in a lottery win.

You might ask, what's wrong with the person who crosses the finish line first winning -- or, in our case, almost winning? Well, moving around the board has very little to do with your ability to answer questions. You roll the dice and move BEFORE you even hear the question.

It's a great looking game -- but for us, it was a big miss.

5.0 out of 5 stars great twist on current gen board games, October 31, 2005
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars

Just picked this up at a Toys R Us for $20 (retail $40).

Played it with 3 friends and had a great time with it. Alot of games now are question and answer type games, but the different variables, and betting aspect really made this game stand out from the rest that we play and a regular basis.

At first the rules of the game can seem alittle over whelming, but they really are pretty straightforward if you apply some commonsense.

I would not take the recommendation from the reviewer here that didn't have any thing good to say about the game, as it is a great adult game, with a great replay value.

The fun started to kick in when the bets were higher, and then people started "tanking" questions.

Its a great addition to the growing collection of board games that I have been building and will be one of the top played games for a while

This is the most inventive board game I've seen in years! It's an excellent party game--a favorite in my dorm. Someone actually stole my roomate's game! The questions are brilliantly written and really funny and off-beat.

THIS IS NOT YOUR SNOOTY, KNOW-IT-ALL TRIVIA GAME!!

The questions all have informative remarks at the end, giving you that extra bit witty info that so many other games lack.

The real catch to this game, though, is the gambling aspect which couldn't be simpler (there's really no "learning" to gamble involved) and the game comes with a single-page "quick guide" that makes it easy to pick up on the rules.
Even my mother liked it!

The betting component keeps everyone playing on every turn, so there's not the usual boredom of waiting for people to go.

We can't wait to take this one on our car camping trip out west this summer.

Oh--the packaging is fantastic! Everything fits neatly into compartments when you put the game away and all of the components are soooo cool!

I give this game my highest recommendation.
