4.0 out of 5 stars Finally, Carnauba Made Easy April 29, 2010
Size Name:16 Ounces
Eagle One is offering to rebate the purchase price on this wax until September of 2010, so figured I would give it a try. Keep in mind that I am applying this wax to an (8) month old, highly waxed, black auto and that this is a detail/finishing product.

Normally, I wax the car at least two times per year with Mother's Carnauba Cleaner Wax followed by a coat of Turtle Wax Ice Paste Synthetic or 3M Perfmance Finish Wax (no longer made). There is nothing like the look of carnauba - the follow up coat of synthetic is for durability.

Eagle One Gel Wax is everything they promise. It's truly a slippery gel and as such, very easy to apply - you don't have to rub it in, just wipe it on and buff it off. VERY easy and quick. The result if a fabulous carhauba gloss, and takes very little time.

The caveat with this wax is that it is a finish wax ONLY - if your paint is weathered and in need of a polishing abrasive (polishing product), it won't really improve things much and it will indeed be VERY difficult to remove - not unlike using regular carnauba on such a finish.

Second caveat is that it comes off very easily when moist, which is what the directions suggest. But if you let it dry, it DOES beomce more difficult to remove, although no more difficult than other carnauba waxes. So, yes, you are much better off doing one panel at a time. Most waxes come off much easier when a bit damp, so this isn't a unique idea...

So, highly recommended for topping off a finish in good shape. Only reason I didn't give it five stars is because it isn't for everyone, but definately for the purist at heart.

5.0 out of 5 stars After years of searching....this is the one! September 29, 2010
Size Name:16 Ounces
I have been detailing cars for over 13 years and have tried everything from Meguiar's NXT Paste, Zymol, Eagle One NanoWax, Meguiar's Gold Class, Mothers Yellow Carnauba Wax, Turtle Wax Paste, Turtle Wax Ice, etc. I used to use NanoWax avidly but found that as frequently as I wash my cars it was only lasting a month or so. So, back in the spring I found Eagle One Gel wax on sale at AutoZone for $3. I was skeptical as my previous experiences with the "fast waxes" is that they just do not last as long as a paste. Armed with an arsenal of plush microfibers I set out to wax my brand new Crystal Red 2010 Cadillac CTS. Unlike a typical wax you cannot let this stuff dry to a haze- but hey, that is why it is supposed to be an efficient alternative to regular, old fashioned carnauba, right? I was not prepared for how fast it dries and had to use some real elbow grease to remove a few streaks until I got the hang of it. Once I followed the directions to a "T", the results are luminous! This product works wonderfully if you employ a two-handed, two-towel system. The technique I use is to apply with a microfiber in one hand and immediately swipe off with a buffing microfiber in the other. After you get the bulk of the residue off, flip the buffing microfiber over and lightly buff to a resilient shine. This must be done quickly so typically I do a 1 foot by 1 foot section at a time. Also with this product, less is more. You only need to apply a drop for each section and once the applicator towel is moistened you will need to add even less. To wax my Caddy it took about 20 minutes. Two coats lasted all summer long and now, at the end of September, the wax was still beading up nicely. Just an hour ago I again waxed the Caddy and was able to do so in about 20 minutes. Read more ›

4.0 out of 5 stars Odd, but I like it.. May 31, 2010
Size Name:16 Ounces|Verified Purchase
Before trying this product I didn't know what to think. I read the reviews here and was a tad unsure about trying it...even if I had the rebate form to get it for free. Some people don't understand how to use the product..I think that is first and foremost the reason why people don't like the product. I had been in the reconditioning business for a little over 15 years(in the past) and have tried many I know every product is different in its own way. This gel goes on smooth and easy. Only do one panel of your car at a time. I applied mine in a circular motion. I removed it by first wiping in a side to side motion, flipping my wax removal cloth, and wiping again in the opposite direction. Flip cloth and doing a final wipe side to side seemed to take off what little haze I could see left over. DO NOT wait for it to haze up. I don't mind a little elbow grease when trying to make my car look I liked the gel wax. Some people want a miracle in a bottle and that just doesn't exist. Advice, for those who don't mind spending a little bit of time getting used to how the product works or using a certain system as I's great. For those who are lazy about detailing their car...don't get near someone else to do it. I have a dark blue metallic vehicle and it made the vehicle look GREAT in the sunshine. Surface looked shinier and color looked deeper when finished. Take this for what it's worth.

3.0 out of 5 stars Durable but not easy to apply April 11, 2010
Size Name:16 Ounces
I've only applied this once to my car about 6-8 weeks ago and it's still doing a great job of protecting. After washing my car it shines as if I just waxed it so in that respect this wax is very durable and lasting. What I don't care for is how it's applied. You rub a small amount onto your vehicle and then have to immediately rub it off. If the wax even begins to dry it becomes difficult to wipe it off the surface. You definitely have to use a lot more force to wipe off this wax than others you let dry to a haze before removing which to me makes the whole process of waxing more of a pain than it needs to be.

I ended up waxing the back end of my car with Meguiar's NXT 2.0 just to compare the two and the NXT was noticeably smoother than the gel wax if that's something you care about. The two seem to be holding up exactly the same as far as protection, though.
