"Eagle Rock" - probably the best album of "Titanic" which came originally from Oslo, Norway (circa 1969). Originally they were: Janny Loseth (founder), Kenny Aas, Kjell Asperud, John Lorck, and they were wise enough to sign British-born Roy Robinson as lead singer (who contributed also as lyricist). Two first album and a pile of singles were inconsistent (Ballad of a Rock 'n' Roll LoserSea Wolf, but instrumental single "Sultana" made it into UK charts (endlessly repeated claims of Sanatana's influence are based mainly on this single; yes, one can hear a hint of Santana every now and then, but he was not the main inspiration). Suddenly the band came with "Eagle Rock" - a full-blast top-class hard-rock band with the strong inclination towards prog. Let's say one can feel immediately the influence of mature Deep Purple and the inspiration from Rare Bird (As Your Mind Flies By. By the way, the vocals are almost as good as Steve Gould's, and the guitars and Hammond you can judge for yourself.
Although signed by prestigeous "Columbia" the band didn't make it due to various reasons, but should be placed as equal among the peers. This release from "Repertoire" comes with the notes by Chris Welch, and is worth every cent (4 bonus tracks give an idea of the versatility of the band, but don't fit into the album).
"Titanic" managed to build some following in continental Europe, and lasted until 1977 before disbanding. Janny Loseth (real name Jan Geir Loseth), who has himself a voice p a r e x c e l l e n c e in the 80s was placed by Didier Marouani as a frontman for the best French synth-act - "Space" ([[ASIN:B00004UR1P Best of Space] - just to give an idea of their music], while Roy Robinson contributed to the same too. Janny Loseth made a real breakthrough during 1983 tour of Didier Marouani (under the moniker "Paris France Transit"), try to see on Youtube singing "Child"...
In 2009 "Titanic" issued inevitable reunion album - Ashes and Diamonds - no suprises, but strong and competent

These guys do have some Deep Purple sound.It could just be the era of the music.They're versatile and talented,very talented.Sometimes it's like listening to 3 or 4 different bands.Especially on their 1st & 2nd albums.There is some great songs.The more you listen the more you like.That to me is the sign of good music.Also there lead singer is fantastic in my opinion.Just remember this stuff is 40 years old,but they were ahead of the time a bit.Some of there songs are as good as you'll get.

I heard the single Macumba a couple of Years ago and it was my first approach to Titanic. Of course i didn't know it was from them at that time. Later, the radio Futuro started saying the name of the Bands and i heard the name "Titanic" for the first time.
After that, my boss ( a very good rocker ) shared with me the discs Eagle Rock and Sea Wolf and i started to like the Band. I learned they were from Norway and that they were heavy influenced by Santana.
I give the disc a 5 stars rating, because their sound is really awesome and is a band which Norway must be proud of.
