Book Description

June 1996
The fascinating story of how Rosemary Altea awoke to her psychic gifts as a medium and a healer is as simple and honest as it is remarkable. Recounting her amazing journey, Altea introduces readers to her native American spirit guide, Grey Eagle, and explains how she has been able to harness her astonishing power to heal, astral-travel, and perform soul rescues. Detailed, too, are 10 of Rosemary's staggering -- and real -- experiences with the afterlife and her spiritual philosophies of how life on Earth is just part of a cycle of growth that transcends day-to-day existence.

Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review

Dead spirits in medium Rosemary Altea's cosmos live out happy and fulfilling lives--dead children grow up, lost pets scamper in eternal bliss, and deceased husbands guide and protect their grieving widows from their invisible dimension. A rosier spiritual view could not be imagined. Whether you heard about The Eagle and the Rose on Oprah or found it on The New York Times bestseller list, you may want to pick up this fascinating autobiography by an English-single-mum-barmaid-turned-medium. The Eagle and the Rose is a convincingly sincere account of Altea's dreary childhood in northern England, where as a young woman she realized her psychic powers were not the insanity she feared. Gripped in a struggle with insecurity and stage fright, you'll cheer as Altea develops into a successful medium who chats with the dead as easily as you chat with the person in front of you in the checkout line. Put your skepticism aside and she'll charm you with her simple character, candor, and steadfast belief in a loving god and life after death--or as she puts it, "life after life." --P. From Library Journal

Altea, an English clairvoyant and medium, has written a riveting autobiographical account of the discovery and development of her extraordinary psychic abilities. She describes with poignancy the trials of growing up in an abusive family in which her psychic talents were neither accepted nor recognized. It was not until she was 35 years of age that she met someone who was able to help her understand her psychic gifts. She then refined these gifts and began giving consultations to people seeking to contact deceased relatives and friends. As Altea presents case histories from her own work, she takes the reader on a fascinating excursion into the unseen world she perceives as well as providing compelling evidence for life after death. In many cases, her information is extremely accurate and difficult to dismiss. Altea's story is valuable for those seeking to contact deceased loved ones as well as for those who have grown up in dysfunctional families. This is likely to be popular in public libraries.

5.0 out of 5 stars READ THIS BOOK IN A DAY!, January 15, 2000
This book has given me hope. I guess you could describe me as a sceptic, but a curious one. I am the sort of person that requires physical proof for mediumship or psycic powers of any sort...I have to say, that although I am still waiting for the real 'physical' proof in my world, Rosemary Altea has done the best job so far of convincing me by words. The stories she tells are extremely interesting and her life story is incredible. She has a truely wonderful gift and I do not doubt her accounts whatsoever.

I am not a very good book reader, I find it difficult to get into books and rarely read. Having said that, I had this book finished in ONE DAY. I couldn't put it down. I hightly recommend this book to anyone searching to educate themselves in regard to spirituality. A very very interesting book.

5.0 out of 5 stars For keeping an open mind.., June 1, 2002
When I was a young teenager I could read a book straight through without putting it down. I've been missing that and then when I came to reading this book it re-occured; I couldn't put it down and there was that wonderful feeling again.

Most of the time I am not on good terms with religion, it creates war if you ask me and therefor I also normally have a hard time reading books that mention God continously through out. However Rosemary has managed to get around my defenses when it comes to that and I could read this book openmindedly.
Reading openheartedly is quite easy for me, but keeping an open mind about things, can be hard sometimes. I found myself respecting her description of what she felt was a God, it was opened enough for me to think of it as something else, anything that my mind wouldn't despise so much. Maybe it helps that her descriptions of certain happenings reminded me of my own experiences. In particular I liked her description of the ether body and then when she went on to tie that together with the "out of body experiences" when you are looking down on your own body - I thought it was phenomenal how well she described it.
-If my words are different than the words used in the book, it's because I have read the Swedish translation of the book..

This is a book to discover yourself in, or to accept and respect yourself for who you are!

I enjoyed reading Rosemary Altea's book "The Eagle and the Rose - thank you for opening up your heart and sharing so openly with your readers. I compare your book to Jenny Crawford's book "Through the Eyes of Spirit." God Bless you in your work. Barbara
