When I upgraded my DirecTV to HD, whichever village my installer had just arrived from was shy one idiot. My HD channels were spotty at best and non-existent in wind. With this device and a ladder, I was able to quickly re-align my dish and improved my signal strength from 79% to 91%. All HD channels come through clearly now, even in a storm and through trees.

A couple of caveats, read the instructions carefully. The device pegged out at max gain when I tried to site it at the base of the dish. I had to splice it into the cable down near the ground to prevent interference from the dish. Also, it gets its power from the satellite receiver so you need to hook up both ends (duh) before you see any gain. If you don't hear a tone, you're not using it right.

As other reviewers noted this item is not the Eagle Aspen SF-98, it is a $9.95 generic satellite finder SF-95. The SF-95 is not the same tester as the Eagle Aspen SF-98 that is being sold.

Apparently Amazon doesn't follow up on complaints about BAIT AND SWITCH dealers. This is just another example of the New York ripoffs photo dealers that practice these techniques.

I called APD (the seller) and they hung up on me!

I guess I should have paid radio shack the 40 bucks for their unit. At least it works.

I bought this in connection with the RD9046 Winegard portable satellite dish. It worked fine. The problem was trying to get good info from Winegard and DirectTV as to which satellite and which direction was needed. Once I got good info the meter worked fine.

I did like this Meter, did help me aligning my satellite, but be carefull it is very sensitive on signals.

Product was as advertised and arrived in four days. I would buy from this dealer again.

This is a must for satellite antenna mounting and fine tunning. Product arrived ahead of schedule. It worked very well with my DTV antenna and receiver and I was able to alight the antenna perfectly.

This appears to be the "Direct TV" Satellite Finder that can be found on the internet from several vendors for less than $5 and from Amazon from other sellers for less than $5. If I wanted a $5 item for almost $25, I would be happy. But, instead, I got a $5 item substituted for almost $25. I'm bummed, and the return procedure involves the seller who hangs up on you when you call.

Amazon, you really need to check this out!

UPDATE: I emailed them and asked for the correct item or to be reimbursed. They emailed me back promptly. They stated they did not have the item anymore and sent the other one as a replacement. They refunded me more than what the difference would have been. I guess all in all, that was fair. The "replacement" has fairly good reviews, so I'll keep it and see what happens.

I received what I thought was the Eagle Satellite Finder, Model SF-99 today. Guess what? It was the cheaper Model SF-95. This seller actually placed this cheap model in the box and placed a large sticker that said "Model SF-99" over the area that said Model SF-95. How dumb do they think we are? Are we not going to actually look at the item to see that it is a Model SF-95? I have started complaint proceedings with both Amazon and this seller in hopes they will correct this. I would not ever reward this seller with the lowest possible rating of 1-star.
