Eagle Scout is the highest rank in Scouting®. To earn this designation, a Boy ScoutTM must demonstrate excellence in leadership, service, and outdoor skills, and must have earned a minimum of 21 merit badges. The reverse features a rendering of an eagle in mid-flight and contains a space for engraving. Struck in nickel and brushed with an antique finish, the coin handle is accented with rich enamel. I am surprised by the packaging this item comes in - (a clear, stiff plastic pouch with a stapled cardboard topper with a hole...like something that would be hanging at the checkout). I really feel like it cheapens the item. Plus, the item appeared to be trimmed in silver on the front and back but it is an antiqued gold (which again, I think cheapens the item). There is a nice description of the Eagle Scout rank on the back but has staples poking through the text. I haven't taken it out of the packaging because I'm trying to decide whether to return it or take it out of the package to have it engraved. For the price, it does not look special-- like a gift for an eagle scout should.
