5.0 out of 5 stars Master at his very best
This is a brilliant book that affected me on every level. Read this and you step on to a rollercoaster of emotions that throws up many surprises and yet is always believable. Despite some extreme violence, Smith writes with compassion but without excessive sentimentality, and the action is thrilling. Here he is in total command of his story. Yes, one of my top ten books...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, light read
I have read all of Wilbur Smith's books. There was not as much to this book as the others. It was a pleasant, romantic story, but I usually like a little more intrigue in my novels.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm not alone!, June 7, 2005

Glad to see that this book moved others as much as it did me. I had just returned from living and working, briefly, in Tel Aviv when I found and read this. We drank many a Goldstar beer while there and the mention of that in the book brought a smile to my face. Mr. Smith's description of that beautiful land was right on target. Anyone with a soul will love this story...

5.0 out of 5 stars The best book ever written!, October 7, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Eagle in the Sky (Paperback)
David and Deborah meet and fall in love. She invites him to her home in Irael. There the adventure of their lives begin. Through triumph, tragedy and... well read the best book ever written. You will not be disappointed. In fact you will not be able to put the book down once you have picked it up. And when you have have finished you will wish it could have lasted longer.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Book In Print Today, December 9, 2005
This review is from: Eagle in the Sky (Paperback)
This book will keep you turning paga after page. It is the love and adventure story of David and Debora. Tragedy befalls both of them and how or if they get back together is the story. If you ever have the chance to get this book, do so and keep it. In fact buy two and give one to a close friend. They will thank you for sharing a truly great book.

I read the book when I was 15 and I am 35 now. In retrospect, it is the best book I have ever read. A word of caution: read the last page carefully.

5.0 out of 5 stars Smith's best, August 22, 2002
By
This review is from: Eagle in the Sky (Paperback)
I've read all 27 of Wilbur Smith's books -- looking back I have to say that this one is the best. It's not the funniest, most interesting, or most exciting of his books, but it certainly made the biggest impact on me. Just thinking about the book (and it's been a long while since I've read it) sends a wave of emotion over me.

5.0 out of 5 stars bitter sweet, October 4, 2001
By
This review is from: Eagle in the Sky (Hardcover)
the wave of emotion you experience was emmence. I have read about 7 of wilbur smith's books and this is my favorite to date. the discriptive details he writes with, made me break down into tears several times. It is a rollercoaster of emotion and lets you really appreciate life and what we have. It is a very graphic, bitter sweet book. David and Debra, Joe and poor Hanna I will never forget, neither will you after reading this book.

A fun fast read but not up to the Wilbur Smith standard. Of the 18 of 31 of his novels that I have read this was my least favorite.
