2.0 out of 5 stars Don't be fooled by seeing double.
While this is a great hammock in itself, it doesn't do so well holding two people, unless you're conjoined twins or like being really, really close to someone and I mean really close. My fiance bought the double nested hammock and after we tied it out together for about as long as we could stand be swished together, he decided that he would return this one and we would...

UPDATE: I ended up purchase the Grand Trunk ultralight single hammocks for my two sons, so was able to actually compare the ENO with the Grand Trunk brands.

The ENO is definitely a thicker material - parachute nylon - while the Grand Trunk hammock are made a very thin nylon material. But for a hot/humid climate like Texas, the Grand Trunk hammocks outperformed the ENO hammock this weekend (May) while camping. The GT hammocks allowed the breeze to circulate, and actually keeps you quite a bit cooler. I think the ENO hammock will be better in the cooler times of the year, but for the summer - and for this price - the GT is a winner.

Also, if you are planning to purchase the "Slap Straps Pro" as I previously recommended - be wary that the tag states that they are for a weight max. of 200 lbs and does not tell whether this is per strap, or for the two straps combined (although the ENO hammock is rated for 400 lbs). If I had noticed this before I purchased, I would have contacted the manufacturer for clarification.

I debated between this and the Grand Trunk Double Hammock that was about $40 compared to ENO at $58. The ENO hammock has very good quality caribiners, unlike a lot of hammocks which have S-hooks (although I am sure you could purchase your own caribiners or higher quality S-hooks). Also, the ENO hammock is supposed to be able to hold up to 400 lbs, compared to most other hammocks which state 300 lbs. The hammock appears very durable and strong, and we have actually had it in the rain, and it dries very quickly.

The only Cons I saw compared to the GT hammock is that the ENO hammocks only carry a two year warranty, compared to GT's 10 year warranty. However, the ENO hammock quality appears superior. Also, note that the double hammock is very wide compared to a single hammock, so it takes a little bit of getting used to all the room you have :) (the extra material can actually "cover" you like a light blanket).

If you camp a lot and can spring for the Eagle's Nest Outfitters "slap straps pro" which are around $20-$25 - you won't regret it. They make putting this hammock up super-easy and super-fast. They are thin, lightweight, but super strong. They are also easier on tree-bark compared to plain rope. On that note, this hammock DOES NOT HAVE ROPE ATTACHED. So make sure you have some on hand, or buy the "slap straps".

5.0 out of 5 stars My New Bed, January 6, 2010

Been sleeping in this hammock as a bed for about 2 months. Very comfortable when I lay diagonally in it. Very sturdy and stable. Should last for a long time. My therm-a-rest made warm enough to sleep when the heater broke and my room went down to 45 degrees Fahrenheit. The extra room from the doublenest is great even for just one.

I bought this hammock after my brother got into hammock-camping. I only use it for one person, but because it's wider than a single nest, after I add a sleeping pad and my sleeping bag and camping pillow, there is plenty of fabric on the sides to protect me from breeze, or just make me feel like a caterpillar :) I slept in this for a week straight on one camping trip, with a rain fly set up for wind, rain & falling branch protection. I quickly discovered that if it's raining and you lay in the hammock to read & stay dry, it's IMPOSSIBLE to stay awake. It's incredibly relaxing, and this model is very well built. I just bought a second one for my fiance's christmas gift - no more tents!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product!, February 3, 2010

I got to try out my friend's ENO singlenest hammock before actually investing in my own. And I say investment because these hammocks are not cheap. If you are an amateur and infrequent hammock user there's no need to buy an ENO. There are other brands that are just as comparable but for 1/3 the price. However, this hammock is top of the line. It packs down small, is very lightweight, easy to setup, and is very comfortable for two people. My husband and I are not large people by any means (I'm 5'4 and he's 5'8") so we fit perfectly without actually smothering eachother. If you are a single user you may feel swallowed up but the extra fabric is lightweight so I didn't have a major problem with it. Because these hammocks do not come with straps you must purchase them separately. I recommend the slap straps pro because of the length versatility. My friend had the regular straps (which are also very easy to use) but for maximum compatibility with whatever the setup situation may be, I would get the slap straps pro. There's nothing more frustrating than getting your hammock and not being able to set it up because the trees available are just not quite close enough. So spend the extra $5-$10 and get pro straps. I swear it will be worth it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Son sleeps it in even when home..............., July 11, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Okay, I don't normally take the time to review products, but after this weekend I just had to. I purchased this camping hammock for my son who is a counselor at a church camp for the summer. He is in charge of the groups that go out into the 2000 acres owned by the camp instead of the ones that sleep in the cabins. He had last week off and came home raving about this hammock. He said it is easy to put up and the most comfortable thing in the world. It's hard to question this since I went into his room and found that instead of sleeping in his BED while home, he had set up his hammock and was sleeping in it during his week off. I'd say that is a ringing endorsement of this products since I just spent a lot more money of a new box spring and mattress (name brand) a couple of months ago for him. Guess I could have saved that money!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Hammock, July 8, 2011
This review is from: Eagles Nest Outfitters DoubleNest Hammock (Misc.)
Received this as a gift. Absolutely love this hammock. I have slept in it a couple of nights - and is very comfortable. I am 6'6" and 350 pounds - this hammock had no issue holding me. I bought the pro slap straps, the pro cover and bug net to go with this. I look forward to many great nights under the stars with this hammock!

4.0 out of 5 stars First time hammock camping, March 16, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Had my first scout campout last weekend in my hammock. Woke up with no back pain & slept later than usual at a campout. As a 6' tall middle aged scoutmaster both are important.

Tips -- was a cold night, so put an extra blanket between sleeping bag and the hammock. DEFINITELY do use a pad of some kind on colder nights. Woke up a couple times with a "cold spot" where the blanket had slipped from under a shoulder or hip. Next time will try a pad to give a bit more structure.

Definitely recommend. Lightweight in the pack, easy to set up. Strung a simple tautline hitch rope over the top -- clipped water bottle and shoes to it. Hung a basic (cheap) tarp over to protect from the dew. I'll not go back to a tent and ground sleeping anytime soon!

5.0 out of 5 stars ENO Doublenest Hammock, November 30, 2009

I purchased this hammock for my son, who is a college student. He loves it! He no longer takes a tent camping, just his ENO and slap straps (I recommend the slap straps pro). He is now looking to purchase a dry fly. I've tried the hammock and it is comfortable, sturdy, and the double nest is large enough to wrap around you. I'm very pleased with this purchase.

I'm a big fan of the Eno hammock here. I purchased mine about 2 years ago, for backpacking and general camping. 4 of my friends have now also purchased the same hammock after severe jealousy over mine.

I use standard climbing webbing, with loop knots tied in, to hang the hammock and it works very well. Once you figure out the right distance range for trees, you can have camp set up in minutes.

I also purchased one of the Eno DryFly as well, and it makes an awesome combo. At Telluride Blues & Brews this year, I was the only person of 14 to remain completely dry through 28 hours of freezing rain.

Super light, sturdy, packs up small. Very modular system.

To those who complain they're cold, you're doing it wrong. Sleeping bags don't work well with hammocks, get an under quilt and it's an amazing difference.

4.0 out of 5 stars Don't forget tree strap! Otherwise have fun., July 28, 2011

This review is from: Eagles Nest Outfitters DoubleNest Hammock (Misc.)
Besides my concerns below this is an extremely good , lightweight hammock. I bought it for my big arse comfort and portability. Due to its larger size (which is not real big when your a 6ft+ 300lb+ dude), it makes it easier to sleep at more of a diagonal, which allows a more normal level sleeping arrangement. It is very comfortable.

I nearly screwed up thinking this came with tree straps like my other hammock, but it does not. I am very glad I had some parachute cord on hand cause I was way out in the middle of nowhere in the dark when I figured this out. So it would have been way too late to remedy this problem without that cord and I would have had to sleep on the ground for two nights(with a nice pillow). The instructions are kinda fuzzy on letting you know this thing does not have everything you need to use it.

As far as being a two person hammock, I think they should give up on that marketing idea and just go for 'large hammock for big arses', cause I cannot see two people in this thing without them being on top of each other. Its not because of the size its because of the natural tamale roll up effect you experience in a free hanging hammock.

FYI: If you are wondering, yes, mosquitos bite right through this thing.
