Rain can be beautiful. Getting wet? Not so much. Now you can stay dry while camping in your Eagle Nest hammock with the DryFly Raintarp, which turns a rainy afternoon into a peace-filled experience as the rain gently falls all around you.

The DryFly Raintarp is perfectly shaped to keep you and your gear dry.
The DryFly tarp measures 10 feet 6 inches by 5 feet 2 inches, with perfectly shaped drip lines to cover you and all your gear. The tarp even offers enough room for you to cook while sitting in your hammock, so all your essentials are covered. And when the rain quits, simply stuff the tarp into its compact stuff sack and get back on the trail.

The DryFly tarp is part of the Eagles Nest Outfitters sleep system, which includes the SingleNest and DoubleNest hammocks, Slap Straps hammock suspension straps, and Guardian bug net. You can also use the DryFly with other hammock brands or by itself to shade and protect your gear, clothes, motorcycle, or dog.

About Eagles Nest Outfitters
Brothers Peter and Paul Pinholster opened Eagles Nest Outfitters after embarking on a cross-country adventure in the summer of 1999. The pair had set up shop in their sister's garage sewing hammocks and slap straps, with the goal of traveling the East Coast selling their products at music festivals and community gatherings. They initially lived out of their seen-better-days mini van while building a thriving business. While vending at festivals along the Appalachian Trail, a friend suggested they set up permanent shop in Asheville, North Carolina. In short order, the brothers established themselves high up on the Blue Ridge Mountains, where they continue to supply hammocks and accessories to like-minded people all over the world.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid Rain Fly, September 20, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
As luck would have it, the first time I used this rainfly it rained the entire weekend. I was using it with the eno 2 person hammock (only me sleeping in it) and the mesh bug netting in the woods of New Hampshire. It kept me mostly dry, the very ends of the hammock ended up getting a bit wet, mainly just from water running down the slap straps, but I slept comfortably both nights. The second night was a driving rain, I raised the hammock up a notch so it was right under the rainfly, it is a fairly effective barrier even in heavy stuff. I have a couple of complaints, but I will use the set up again for sure. One thing to note is that, when you consider the hammock, the mesh bug screen, the rain fly and the tent spikes (not included), you are starting to get a pile of equipment larger than many small 1 person backpacking tents and definitely larger than a bivy sack. This pile of equipment also starts to pile up in cost.
Setting up the hammock with the slap straps takes almost no time at all, and I will always bring the hammock car camping and even on some backpack trips. However, add in the mesh bug netting and the rain fly, which has 6 tie outs on each side and the two middle supports, and your set up and break down time definitely exceeds that of some easy tents. On that note, if you do get this rainfly, be sure to get some guy wire clips so you don't have to tie off the string for each stake.
Overall, it is a solid piece of equipment that will keep you dry if need be. I don't love it because of how expensive it is (it's a fancy tarp!) and my own over overstated dreams of how easy it would be to set up (my fault.) But if you want a decent rain fly, don't care about 5-10 minutes to set it up and have some money burning a hole in your pocket, this ought to do ya.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly what I was looking for, June 26, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I used to bring a tarp to the river to make shade. But it was heavy and doesn't fit inside the backpack very well. (at all)
Came across eno in a gear review. It is a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. This thing is compact and strong, and does what I want it to.
