The ferocious post-punk 5 piece bands, Eagulls based in Leeds, England are pleased to share their 5 track EP on Canada's prestigious punk label Deranged. A few lucky folks have been able to catch the band's European shows. The shows received high accolades as some of the most thrilling and visceral performances ever. EAGULLS has shared the stage with Iceage, Milk Music, Ceremony, and Fucked Up. The five tracks - "Coffin", "Moulting", "No If's, No Buts", "Cripple" and "Still Born"; Drawing from a wide variety of influences, EAGULLS manage to create something new, while still paying homage to classical punk.

Although you can glean specific influences such as Dinosaur Jr., Violent Femmes, Sex Pistols, and Joy Division, Eagulls are anything but derivative. They have created their own brilliant unique sound that combines driving, echoed, distorted wall of sound guitars overlaid with irresistible chorus-laden post-punk riffs and chugging, angry bass lines. Tough Luck is a perfect example of this. George Mitchell's brash, broken vocals are rife with unchecked aggression and desperation. In a world chock full of rehashed, apathetic, diluted, studio-glossy music, Eagulls stand as a shining beacon of pure punk angst.

Very cool post punk type of album. Really sounds like something that could have come out in the 80s or early 90s. They do a cover of Killing Joke's Requiem on one of their earlier EPs and that's a good reference point for their musical influences - I was reminded of KJ on the first listen of this album. Chameleons is another band that comes to mind listening to these guys. I wasn't a big fan of the singer the first couple listens but he kind of grows on you - his singing style is heavily rooted in old school British punk. What I loved from the git go was the guitar playing, these guys make a great hard edged sound.

I'm a big fan of early 80s-era punk, and this band revives that classic sound while also infusing their own modern style, giving them a familiar yet unique sound. If you like Killing Joke's first album, you'll love the Eagulls.

Debut British release—vibrant, hard-driving post-punk with a psychedelic Brit-rock urgency and a
palpable melodic tension. High-energy, deep-well echoic punk vocals lead powerful jump-around
-the-room, raw groove ‘n’ grind guitar crashes in a blistery-insane, frenetic pace. The songs
share a deadly unsinkable vitality that’s delivered with the joyous, reckless abandon of youth.
Pounding, angry, cavernous drum beats drive a brash aura of incessant, gripping energy in a
non-stop explosion of in-your-face fun that will leave you breathless. You can work up a sweat
just listening to this. Recalls bands such as Savages, Cold Pumas, the Skids, U.K. Subs, the
Libertines, Thatcher On Acid, Sex Pistols, Palma Violets, early Clash. Sometimes, when you put
on a record, the notes jump off the walls; the room starts to blur and you realize you’re dancing,
flying around like a crazy, ecstatic human animal who’s addicted to the rock ‘n’ roll beat--
because it’s so good. Oh my God, hit me again…Eagulls are here!!
