5.0 out of 5 stars Great product!
I am a long time user of the 180 degree and, though I love them, I found it hard to keep up with them. . . no easy way to carry them in your pocket or purse. These are so flat and small, they fit nicely in your pocket or purse. They are snuggly warm, block the wind. I really like these! This review is from: Fleece Ear Mitts Bandless Ear Muffs 100g ThinsulateTM Insulation & DuPontTM Teflon® (Various Colors / 2 Sizes) (Apparel)

These are so flat and small, they fit nicely in your pocket or purse. They are snuggly warm, block the wind. I really like these! When I wear earrings I only clip them over the top part of my ear and they work equally well. *Tip* I found the manufacturer tags on the inside to be cold so I took them out. I highly recommend this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't live without them!, November 15, 2009

I absolutely love the ear mitts. I had the old school earmuffs, which do keep your ears warm, but are also bulky, hard to carry around, and that plastic head piece gives me a headache. I tried the 180 degrees earmuffs which go across the back of your head - better, but still gave me a headache. Then, I happened across these last year on the internet and was very intrigued. I ordered a pair and am quite thrilled that I did.

They are SUPER compact and fit nicely into a tiny little portion of my purse, so I carry them with me all winter long. They are very easy to get on and off, and they clip on securely (which I was afraid might not be the case when purchasing). They are very discreet and comfortable to wear, and they don't mess up your hair at all. You can wear your earrings with them, and either tuck them in to the ear mitt if not too bulky, or just let them dangle out (they'll be pushed towards your head a bit but it doesn't bother me). My favorite use for them is snowboarding - I absolutely can't stand the cold wind on my ears (gives me huge headache), but my old earmuffs would also give me a headache. Now, I wear these and pull my beanie over them (it covers the top portion of the ear mitts but the bottom half is exposed). They are amazing. My ears are quite cozy the entire day, with no pinching or headaches, and I've had no problems with them getting loose or disappearing.

I've been showing my friends and family and all seem impressed - I'm thinking it could be a great Christmas gift! My daughter wants her own pair too (she's ten and loves mine).

Last winter I'd wear a stocking cap on my runs to keep my ears warm but then my head would get sweaty so I'd take it off and then my ears would get cold etc. For this winter I wanted something like those behind the head ear-muffs to keep my head warm while allowing the sweat on my forehead to dissipate in the cold. On Amazon of course I saw these and got them instead. I purchased the grey ones and they look really good/neutral.
When I first opened them I was a little disappointed cause they wouldn't stay on my ears while first trying them out. Turns out that there's instructions for that and they "clip" on to the back and mostly the top of your ear, no ear lobe required, (I have an ear lobe though). There are sort of two halves to it. A soft fleece outer half and a hard plastic inner half with a half-moon hole in it, also covered with some fleece for comfort. There has been some fairly strong breezes while running but surprisingly they haven't been blown off my head, which I was worried about. Hearing isn't impaired at all wearing these. I've gone running in mid-30's to low 50 degree weather with these and they kept my ears from getting cold. Anything cooler than the 10's and these alone, w/o more headgear and you're ears may get cold but I'm not sure. After wearing them for more than an hour your ears feel fine until you take them off and then I notice my ear top may be a bit sore but it's goes away quickly. I haven't worn them for more than 2 hours.
I probably would recommend these only for light winter duty (running, walking, hanging out) vs heavy duty (construction work, skiing, sledding) cause they may fall off and get lost without having some sort of hat or head-band over them to keep them on.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bandless ear muffs, February 7, 2010

I like these ear muffs very much. I had Ear Pops in the past, but they did not have any insulation so the wind could blow through the thin material when biking at 20 MPH and chill my ears. These new ones have a protective layer at the center and keep my ears warm even when biking at 25 degrees Fahrenheit.

3.0 out of 5 stars just ok, October 17, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
They keep the cold out decently enough but I only use them as a backup because I find them rather uncomfortable. As another review said, they do not work well with glasses. They also don't work well with earrings, even studs. I tried doing what someone else suggested and not clipping the bottom while wearing earrings and they fell off. The fleece doesn't feel as soft as I would expect and I think they're itchy. I got the regular size because I've never thought I had small ears, but if you think you might be on the border, opt for the smaller ones because they're more snug and secure that way. I keep them in my purse so if I'm in a pinch they are there, but I much prefer the headband style for comfort: Animal Print Ear Muff Headband-Solid Black W20S35D

2.0 out of 5 stars not comfortable, had to return, September 29, 2011

It seems like a good idea - a way to keep your ears warm without the hair-messing or head-sweating of a hat. Didn't work for me because
1. lifted up my detached earlobes uncomfortably (like having an ear-wedgie), and
2. pressed against the top harder part of my ear uncomfortably when "popped" into down position. In the open position, was too loose.

I'd guess a lot depends on your ear size and shape, and there are probably plenty of people who can use these easily or who don't mind the discomfort. But for me, these were a no-go.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great ear warmers., September 27, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I needed something to keep my ears warm while riding a bicycle in cooler weather and a friend mentioned these. The work fine for me, it's amazing how much heat your head retains by just covering your ears! They 'flip out' to a slightly convex surface to get your ear into the covering, then you push them flat to your hear and they flip back so the inside surface is concave when covering your ears. They also do not block normal sounds so I can hear traffic coming behind, and around, me.

5.0 out of 5 stars They Keep My Ears Toasty, March 24, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I first saw someone wear these ear mitts while training for a half marathon last winter. My ears would get so cold they would ache. I'd wear a beanie, but then my head would get too hot. When I saw these ear mitts run past me, I knew I had found a solution to my dilemma. When they finally showed up, I was so excited. They are easy to put on once you get the hang of it and they actually stay on pretty well while running. I started using them for very early morning runs and my ears never ached again. And they are adorable too. Can't go wrong.

5.0 out of 5 stars They Work!, December 17, 2009

I live in NYC where the winter season can get pretty nasty cold. I hate wearing hats or anything that will give me bed head or a headache. These are a God send for me. They stay put and keep your ears pretty warm even in windy blistery conditions. Worth every penny.
