Still one of the best..., July 15, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Ear Piercing Punk (Audio CD)
When this first came out in the late '70s it both parodied the punk rock cliche's of the time and attempted to direct seekers of aggressive rebellion back to the original '60s roots of it all. Like the "Pebbles" series from the same label, it collected some of the rarest unknown 45s of the era, but with a particular emphasis toward the rawest, wildest sounds that could be found. The idea was that anyone who liked the Sex Pistols might well appreciate these precursors, too. Later, when it was reissued on CD after being out of print for many years, some of the songs that had since become available on legitimate CDs were left off, while ten new, insanely rare and great bonus tracks were added. This is still one of my very favorite '60s comps, and most of the tracks are available nowhere else.
