5.0 out of 5 stars Ear-Resistible is just too Irresistible !
The legendary Tempatations has provided us with great music for over 40 years and still going strong over a half dozen or so personel changes but one thing hasnt changed is that smooth, silky harmonzing that still sounds great.. Now with their 57th album ! it just shows the staying power these gentlemen have.. Their new album picks up where their last album Phoenix...

2.0 out of 5 stars Is the Phoenix Still Rising?
There will never be another Phoenix Rising!!! Phoenix Rising is a CD that is worth listening to over and over again. Those who are into "Steppin" or "Swingin' Out" know that this album is our anthem. Ear-Resistible just left me hanging on waiting for the tunes to get better but they never did. Whatever chemistry was used to make the Phoenix...

The legendary Tempatations has provided us with great music for over 40 years and still going strong over a half dozen or so personel changes but one thing hasnt changed is that smooth, silky harmonzing that still sounds great.. Now with their 57th album ! it just shows the staying power these gentlemen have.. Their new album picks up where their last album Phoenix Rising left off.. In hope of attracting a younger audience to their music they enlist some of the hottest young songwriters and producers on the scene right now with the likes of folks like Joe who wrote and produced the hypnotic first single I'm Here.. Gerald Levert penned two tracks Proven &True one of my favorites on the whole cd and also wrote Selfish Reasons.. Donell Jones co wrote It's Alright To Be Wrong another great track on this album with these young talented gentlemen lending their talent makes this cd great listening .. It would be unfair to compare the new material to such great classic tracks from the past.. But this album should keep long time Tempt fans happy also.. Other noteworthy tracks are as following:

Your Love, Kiss Me Like You Miss Me, Got To Get On The Road, Error Of Our Ways.. All these songs are great check this album out you will not be disappointed it just too irresistible not to listen !

Coming from the Number one Temptation fan in the world, I feel free in saying "Kiss me like you miss" is it.......... It should have been released first. All jokes aside this is a great follow-up to Phoenix Rising. "Party" will make you want to do just that.Any Temptation fan will want this for there collection.

4.0 out of 5 stars A taste of Old School!, June 8, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Ear-Resistible (Audio CD)
If you are seriously into "old school", track #9 "Proven & True" may, by itself, be worth the CD price. An old school slow jam that reminds us a little of Kendricks & Ruffin. The overall CD is a little uneven...probably trying to cater to the pitiful, fickle crowd that "learned about" the Temps from the TV movie. Still, by today's standards, it's a strong CD worthy of your dollar.

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoy the new era Temptations, May 6, 2005
This review is from: Ear-Resistible (Audio CD)
While it's not quite up to the standard of "Phoenix Rising" I do enjoy this CD. Let's face it, the original lineup ended in 1968, the sound started changing in the 70's, and the Tempts have been evolving ever since. No need to bash the band because they can't conjure up the ghosts of David and Eddie. The new era Temptations do have some serious talent.

I'm glad Otis has kept the group alive. Also -- as noted by the excellent new CD "Legacy" -- Mr. Williams has a great eye for recruiting singing, instrumentation, and producing talent. He has successfully replaced great singers (Theo Peoples for one) with others. The latest and greatest addition is former Spinners front man G.C. Cameron.

On this CD, Terry Weeks clearly is a star. The ballads are tremendous as is "Elevator Eyes" and I particularly like long time tenor extrodinaire Ron Tyson leading "Gotta Get On the Road."

Yes, as noted below, they shouldn't be singing songs about partying and so forth, some are grandparents. I could do without the silly intos and interludes, too, sadly R & B of today is obsessed with that stuff.

But all in all, a great effort by the legendary group, no matter what lineup is singing. Thanks Otis for keeping The Temptations alive!

4.0 out of 5 stars The Legend goes on!, August 1, 2003
This review is from: Ear-Resistible (Audio CD)
"Ear-Resistible" continues a trend established with 1998's successful "Phoenix Rising", i.e., a mixture of the group's trademark harmonies with contemporary lyrics and beats. Sole original member Otis Williams, who also served as executive producer, knows the building blocks of the legendary group; thus, these guys know what they are all about. Their voices, while, at times, are reminiscent of the founding members, possess enough individuality to render their own distinctive sound, unlike no other.

The present Temptation quintet is unfairly compared to its predecessors. The reality is that any group that has been in existence for four decades (and counting) and continues to make good music is deserving of praise and support.

The album sports some really strong tracks ("I'm Here", "Your Love", "Elevator Eyes", "Party", "Proven & True", "I'll Just Go Crazy", and the thought-provoking "Error of Our Ways"). Even the "lesser" tracks are worlds above the songs drowning the airwaves of contemporary radio.

Good music, like a fine wine, is hard to find.

One can indulge in the ecstatic elegance of the Temptations.

"Resistence IS futile!"

5.0 out of 5 stars THIS IS MOST DEFINITELY A "10" STAR CD!!, July 17, 2001
This review is from: Ear-Resistible (Audio CD)
These five gentlemen have pulled off nothing less than a fantastic feat. The Tempts are absolutely phenomenal on their "EAR" CD. Anyone who does'nt know this...huh, you better ask somebody. How anyone could call themselves a true Temptation's fan and not own this CD is way beyond me!! Good music is just like good wine, without the bitter taste, but intoxicating none the less. If you don't watch out you could easily get an overdose of Temptations, because once you allow yourself to listen to the high caliber vocals presented here, YOU ARE GONNA BE HOOKED!! Without pointing out any one of the member's prowess on any particular track, I will honestly say. This CD has been a joy to own, and to enjoy daily. It's the type of music you just can't turn away from......and you would'nt even think of doing so. It's no wonder this release brought these guys a well earned "Grammy" in February of 2001. Man, they more than earned it. I'm only hoping the upcoming "AWESOME" CD scheduled to be released later this year, will come out slammin' the way "EAR-RESISTIBLE" did and take the art of "Temptin'" to a whole other level. A level where soul is not just an idea, but a way of life as well. These guys make life a much better place to hang around in. Thanks Temptations for doing it the way you do!!

I highly recommend this CD for the true "Temptation" lovers. You'll come to love the incredibly smooth tenor Ron Tyson on tracks such as "Kiss Me Like You Miss Me", "Proven and True", and "Got to Get on the Road". You will also love the track "I'm Here". As a true Tempts fan, I can personally say you will not be disappointed. I highly recommend it.

Whatever chemistry was used to make the Phoenix Rise, the Temps need to go back and get it. In my opinion, it is only on the talent of the performers that this album is able to bring a touch of pleasure. I sure hope the Phoenix will rise again!!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars *Big sigh*, September 20, 2004
This review is from: Ear-Resistible (Audio CD)
There is no doubt that these guys CAN SING, but my MAJOR gripe is whomever WRITES for them needs to REMEMBER that these men are MATURE in age and NOT 20-something!!! The cd is ok, but when I hear them sing a lyric that they are too old to be singing, I cannot take them seriously.

Other than that, there are some decent tracks. Not a total disappointment. Legacy is better though :-)
