5.0 out of 5 stars Effective, portable, comfortable and cheap
This is probably one of the cheapest noise reduction headphones out there. It won't do the job of a Bose, but you could buy 8 Boses for the price of a pair of these headphones. The noise reduction isn't perfect, because these headphones don't press really hard on the ears to form a tight seal like the Bose does. However, this also means that these headphones are a good...

1.0 out of 5 stars Bad quality. Broken in 4 months.
I lost my Sony MDR NC5 after having it for 15 months. I found this model on the web with good reviews about it. I thought I would give it a try. Sound quality was not as good as the Sony. But hey, it was cheaper. I could not complain. However, after using it for only 2 months, the plastic wire covering started tearing off at the bottom of both ear pieces, exposing...

The noise reduction isn't perfect, because these headphones don't press really hard on the ears to form a tight seal like the Bose does. However, this also means that these headphones are a good deal more comfortable. The other plus is that that these headphones fold up nicely into the handy bag provided. Uses one AAA battery that lasts about 12 hours or so.

5.0 out of 5 stars TECHNOLOGY IS MAGIC, January 9, 2005

I was originally looking for wireless headphones when I started reading the reviews about them here at AMAZON.COM. I wanted to be able to just put the headphones on and walk around the house free. Reading the reviews, I seen that wireless headphones are not that simple. I advise buyers to read reviews about products to make a sound decision for your money instead of using the "higher price the better, cost analysis". So I decided that I would try the new noise-canceling technology instead. I read the reviews and tried the EARHUGGERS for the price. When I got the headphones I pulled out one of my CLASSIC SOUL CD's and listened through the headphones without the battery. The music sounded good, heard the traffic coming through the window. Then I put the enclosed battery into the headset. Like magic, there was no traffic noise. To me it was sort of scary, but the magic of technology can be very scary. BOSE invented this technology and they want over $300 for their headset. Thanks to the Chinese,
we can get it for under $30. I like these headphones and YOU will too! I may buy another set of noise-cancelers to have one for travel and another for home. Again, read product reviews to help you make a sound decision on the BEST PRODUCT to buy, for the amount of money that you want to spend.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great, June 25, 2005

Very comfortable.
The extra band at the top keeps the headphones from shifting around or falling off. My head is small, and I was able to adjust them just right.
Does a great job of cancelling out engine noise. I used them on a 9 hr. flight. Didn't help much with the fussy baby behind me, though.
Fold up compactly.
If you turn on the noise cancelling feature and just listen, you hear very little hiss (unlike some other brands.)
I really like the volume adjuster so you don't have to mess with your input source.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for small heads!, November 27, 2007

These headphones are great! They are comfortable for long plane rides (5+ hours). But the best part is the flexible band that goes across the headband. I can never find over the ear headphones to fit me and these fit perfectly-- great for people with smaller heads! They sound great and do a great job of canceling outside noise.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great value for the money, March 26, 2007
This review is from: Earhugger Folding Noise Canceling Stereo Headphones (Electronics)
Great value.. do the job they are designed to do. If you're looking for a high-fidelity great sounding pair of headphones these are NOT it... however if you want to hear the movie on a plane or listen to your iPod over the drowning engine noise these are super! Better than the Sony open-ear and the Altec Lansing ones that I had because there is no external pack- battery goes right in the headset.

As for the review below about them breaking, did you not see that they have a "Lifetime Warranty"? I actually broke a pair on a plane and sent them to Earhugger and they were replaced with a new pair. I've gotten my $30 bucks worth several times over and can't be happier!

I compared with the Sony MDR NC5 ($50.). Earhuggers does a much better job at noise canceling. Due to an ear condition (if I'm on a plane too long, my ears start 'ringing'), I must have noise canceling headphones. I travel to Europe twice a year, and these are fairly comfortable even for a 9 hour flight. But more importantly, the noice cancellation is effective enough to protect by ear drums. Over the ear styles would be better, but I haven't found anything for less than $125, in this style. Structurally, they are a bit flimsy. After one year of use a strap broke. However, for the $30 - $40 price, I'm still going to buy another one.

I have been very careful not to pull the wire because I need the headphone on the noisy bus every weekday. Two more months later it stopped working. I am going back to Sony.

3.0 out of 5 stars does the job BUT the Coby CV190 runs cheaper, January 30, 2004

Model number (that I'm reviewing): EH-1420NC
Manufacturer: EarHugger Inc
Both the EarHugger EH-1420NC and also the Coby CV190
seem to have similarly-sized ear cushions. They do
not SURROUND the ears; they are slightly bigger than
an ear, but there is no room within the pads for an
ear to snuggle without being pressed upon. At least
there is no hard, ungiving plastic or metal jammed
against the cartilage of the outer ear, yet the ear
is not SEALED by being SURROUNDED by cushioning pads.
The advantage that the EarHugger has over the Coby is
that the EarHugger model FOLDS more compactly than the
Coby. I took one star away because Red China (with its
abysmal "human rights" record) is where it is made. I
took an additional star away because I can get 2-3
Coby noise-canceling headsets for the approximate cost
of one EarHugger noise-canceling headset. The Coby is
not made by union labor in North America; it hails
from mainland China too. Say a prayer for the workers.
