This review is from: Earl King 1953-1955 (Audio CD)
Earl King born in New Orleans started recording in the early 50's,and continued through to the 90's.A guitar player he first recorded a single for Savoy, then a stint with Specialty before finding success with Johnny Vincents Ace label. This release includes all those early recordings and feature some great romping, stomping sounds, plus the ballads like "Those lonely lonely Nights" his big hit.
His style is very similar to Guitar Slim who he stepped in for when Slim could not make some tour dates--nobody knew the difference!!! Great NO musicians such as Earl Palmer, Huey Smith,Lee Allen are supporting him on many tracks, so you know its good.Wonderful music from a period in time we shall never see again, enjoy and support this release. |
