Editorial Reviews

Hypnosis is a powerful and evolving tool of the psychologist. This film series explores state of the art hypnotherapy techniques in the 1930s and 1940s, demonstrating how when a person is in a hypnotic state, suggestions can be implanted in the mind to help move the patient towards a solution to their mental condition. The total run time of this collection is 49 minutes. The first film is titled Photographic Studies in Hypnosis - 1930s - This silent film demonstrates hypnosis by placing a young women under a hypnotic trance and then showing how suggestions can make her exhibit a wide range of emotional states. It also demonstrates how hypnosis can be used to remove the presence of external stimuli with demonstrations of lack of reaction from various tests like pin pricks. The second film is titled Unconscious Motivation - 1940s - This film demonstrates the ability to implant false memories via hypnotic suggestion as it follows a session of two students who are given false childhood memories and then shows how they interact based on this "new" set of memories.
