Early Art--A good intro, June 19, 2000

Although the album starts off with the busier "Soft Shoe," this album shows off more of Farmer's chops with what is often more difficult--slower songs that call for a subtle touch. This presents a wonderful introduction to Farmer's work, and also features some nice playing from Sonny Rollins in a sideman's role. One other thing--after five years of knowing him, when this was playing in my house recently, this was the first album of mine that my father-in-law commented on. From him, it's a rave!
