I bought this for my daughter who is 2 1/2 years of age. It turns out that my son who is 5 enjoys this CD too. I found the music upbeat and easy to listen to. Hap's singing is smooth and not annoying like the Barney music. He takes all the nursery rhymes and adds different rhythms. My kids love to dance to this CD. This definitely helps when the weather is not so permitting to go outside and play. The CD incorporates movements along with the songs. This is important to build music appreciation and make music fun for them. It also means that I do not have to sign my children up for expensive classes to enjoy music! Little ones need to move. I even find the children's chorus enjoyable. They actually remain in key! On some CD's, they use very young children who sing like Elmer Fudd. Not on this CD. These kids annunciate! I love the twists to the songs. The lyrics and suggestions for movements are included with the CD. This definitely helps! My daughter's favorite is "I'm a Little Teapot". My son's favorite is "This Old Man". It is a great investment in music! I highly recommend this CD for teachers and parents!

My sister recently bought this for her son, who's nearly three years old and he absolutely loves it. She just puts it on, and he dances around and jumps up and down. He loves it and that's hard to come by as he's pretty picky about everything. It has great lyrics and I found myself chuckling over some of the new twists it takes on the nursey rhymes I heard as a kid.

We LOVE this recording from Hap Palmer!! It is upbeat and perfect for ANY child, not just tiny ones. It is especially appropriate for toddlers and preschoolers, and the accompanying booklet outlines many activities that can be done along with each song. This is perfect for a do-together activity, or to use as part of a home/neighborhood preschool curriculum. Creative arranging, writing, and excellent musical talent make this a pleasure for all of us to listen to. My kids (4 and 1)love to run around and dance to this, as well as do the actions. You'll love it, too!!

If standard kid's tunes play in your house or car all day long, you will love this refreshing cd and your kid's won't miss a beat. I don't understand the 2 star review. If you don't like something, that's fine. But the reviewer's logic is very skewed in that they said it didn't meet their expectations, even though 1) The cd was a gift, and 2) The title of the cd tells you that it's not an album of "to-the-letter" standards. So if you don't like the music or your child doesn't like it, fine. But don't rate it down because you had ridiculous expectations from something you didn't even want or buy. If you are open-minded and enjoy good, fun, music you will love this. There is varied musical accompaniment and Hap sings great and truly seems to feel the music (unlike most performers of children's standards). Of course, the ultimate critic is the child. My daughter LOVES this cd (she's 21 months old now and has been listening to it since 12 months). Again, if you want standard kid songs, you may be disappointed with this because the music and words are different (usually, each song starts in a traditional manner but then non-standard lyrics and music follow). But if you want a twist without leaving the traditional songs altogether, buy this. I don't think you will be disappointed.

I must say, I just received this CD today and if you are expecting the classics, you will be disappointed. The melody, speed, words etc are quite different from the classical songs we all know. They advertise the cd as "Old Favourites with a New Twist", but I found the twist a bit too far from the original versions. This is not the type of CD you can put on for your child to help him learn the words of the songs. I bought this CD for my 2 year old son, based on great reviews I read on Amazon.com, so clearly I am in the minority. I will try to give it a chance for it to grow on me but first impressions are most certainly a disappointment.

Early Childhood Classics is another great music CD from Hap Palmer. It has been a wonderful addition to our children's music collection. We bought this CD for our 2 year old but the whole family enjoys listening to it just as much as she does. The music is catchy and upbeat with easy to sing lyrics. Our 5 year old quickly memorized all the songs and sings them constantly. She knows the lyrics well enough that she can sing through the instrumental versions without a pause. We all have our favorites: our two year old loves "I'm a Little Teapot;" our five year old loves, "Old Mac Donald;" my husband and I like, "I'm Glad I'm Me;" and we all have had many laughs with "One Two, Buckle My Shoe." It is just a really fun CD and definitely one of our favorites!

I'm a children's librarian in Illinois and this cd has become one I use at almost every storytime. I especially love "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" because it contains a verse inserted by Hap Palmer which allows me to introduce Shakespeare to the tiniest child. He uses a line from "A Midsummer Night's Dream" -- "silver bow new bent in heaven" to describe the moon. I have entire families singing along, learning a famous quotation painlessly! And it's a beautiful, calming song to use at the end of a storytime. Parents and kids love it!

Bought this CD for my 2yr old son, and we both love it. Our librarian uses some of the songs in storytime, and I wanted to be able to share the songs at home too. What I didn't know before buying is that after the 13 songs listed on the back of the CD play, the songs then repeat in just instrumental for a total of 90 minutes of music. It's fantastic!!!

You can never go wrong with a Hap Palmer CD. This one is excellent, and my grandchild loves listening to it. Although she is only a year old, she claps after each song! When she is in the car and starts getting fussy, one has only to play this CD and there is instant pleasure registered on her face. The lyrics are written with a creative twist, and are really enjoyable.

We LOVE this CD, my 2 year old daughter included! Hap Palmer's voice and singing are perfect for children, and the music itself - instrumentation, arrangements, etc - is the best I've heard on any children's CD. The production quality is excellent, too. The song selection is great (my daughter loves to sing along), and I like the creative twists and additional verses. This CD has been great in the car, and I highly recommend it to any parent of young children!
