This is taken almost exactly from the PDF copy available for free at the publisher's website [...] The in-book table of contents is not linked and appears to be merely a picture, hence my thought that they just modified the PDF slightly to include a very rudimentary linked table of contents at the beginning. This "enhanced version" features links to Scripture references contained in the text, but these require internet access in order to function, as they open as links in the browser. This feature might be nice, but it doesn't make up for a stunted table of contents, especially when the "original" ToC goes significantly more in depth than the one contained here.

Having said this, the only alternative available for Kindle, Early Christian Fathers, has worse formatting throughout the text, so this one is much preferred to that for general reading. The other also lacks a ToC entirely, so this one's deficient one is preferable.
