Editorial Reviews

Review

“The book is easy to read and understand. The information provided is clear and concise without excluding pertinent information. In the past, my students have commented on how easy this book is to read. … Most of my students keep the book to use as a future reference.” - Daphne (Leann) Curry, Midwestern State University, Wichita Falls, TX

“[This text] is the perfect tool for beginning student[s]. It familiarizes them with lesson plans, observations, theory, transition activities, and ideas for curriculum in the different areas of learning for children.” - Susan Davies, Ivy Tech State College of Indiana, Lowell, IN

“I feel that this is a strong publication and after viewing the [front-of-book] CD, it only adds to the text’s strength. I will… recommend this [text] as a “keeper” for my students in terms of a very usable text and resource for future and current early childhood educators.” - Cindy Waters, Upper Iowa University, Fayette, IA

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! A Great Resource For Teachers!, January 2, 2005
By Teacher,Student "Shelley" (Madison, Wisconsin) - See all my reviews
I am a young veteran teacher with much to learn. "Early Education Curriculum" covers a lot of what I learned in Ed School and much more that I learned in the classroom. This book demonstrates the wisdom and knowledge of the author, Hilda Jackman, and offers the new or veteran educator a fresh perspective on the art and science of early childhood education.

Another book that I read during this holiday break is "Behavior Coaching" by Dr. Scott E. Hall from the University of Dayton and Matt Pasquinilli. "Early Education Curriculum" lays out all the basics of how to prepare for your classroom, what to teach, when to teach what, etc... "Behavior Coaching", while aimed more at the parent than the teacher, offers great insight in how to address disruptive behavior in the classroom. "Behavior Coaching" compliments "Early Education Curriculum" and I highly recommend that you get both.

This was a wonderful book. My instructor in a methods and materials class used it as the text. I love using it in my lesson planning for my preschoolers.
