Perhaps this edition has been rendered obsolete by the translation of the complete Philokalian texts by Ware, Palmer and Sherrard from the original Greek, but this volume does contain some writings of Saints Dorotheos of Gaza and Isaac of Nineveh not found in the volumes of the Greek texts. Certainly the other writings by authors such as St. Anthony the Great, St. Mark the Ascetic, Evagrius of Pontus, Maximus the Confessor and others are well worth reading and re-reading for their immense spiritual value.
