I bought this for my 1 year old son on his birthday, along with the flying saucer and the mobile moon base, and he loves it. The rocket has a nice height to it, and is very sturdy. The doors pop off easily on the rocket and the mobile moon base, and for young children, that's fantastic because it's already survived multiple moon crashes. If the doors weren't designed to come off, I know they would have broken off. So while mom might get frustrated having to keep putting the doors on, you at least know that this toy will last. I appreciate the simplistic and retro style of the rocket, yet it has a lot of detail that makes it a real winner.
The cockpit has the astronauts laying down facing an instrument panel, the way real astronauts do, and you can see some detail on the control panel that isn't just lithograms.
The 2nd part of the rocket is the most the most unique and most fun. It opens up to the living quarters with built in details like a coffee maker, a microwave, mugs, a toaster, and what looks like a washing machine. On the swinging door there is a bed that even has a divit in the pillow to allow the astronauts to rest comfortably. On the side of the bed are two nightstands with a night lamp on one side and books on the other. So cozy. And something that I don't think I've ever seen in any other toy, much less is a rocket is the feature where if you lift up the bed, it becomes the toilet. You can even see a little toilet paper roll. Again all this detail is part of the rocket so it won't get lost or break. I think of this little rocket as one awesome doll house for boys, although I'm sure girls would like it, too. Since I bought all three modules, I had duplicate astronauts, so I actually took a permanent marker and put eye lashes on 2 of them, and wala...

My son will be 4 years old in a week. We debated on this rocket or the Imaginext rocket. We decided that the simplicity of this set was better for his age group and we were totally right!

On Christmas morning, Santa had left the rocket and the accessories out under the tree. He went right for them and proceeded to play for the next 15 minutes until we pointed him to something else. He found all 3 doors and how to put the buggy into the bottom area, how to lay the men flat in the cockpit and how to flip up the bed to use the potty area. It was very intuitive for a 3 year old.

We were all surprised by the cool sounds, the size and the ease of use. I was so very pleased to open a box, pull out the rocket and unwrap the other pieces from a plastic bag, without having to get scissors out to clip wire ties or rubber bands. It made my job so much easier.

My only complaint would be that the top and bottom doors seem to pop off a lot. They are made to do this, I just wish it was either a little more difficult to pop them off or easier to get them on.

All in all, this was a great rocket for the age. We are considering getting the moon base and flying saucer for his birthday.

I looked at getting this last Christmas for my then 3 1/2 year old, but didn't. This year, my son saw it as I was looking online and just went crazy about it (he loves "rockets"). Well, he got it for Christmas this year! At 4 1/2, he still plays with this often, but could have gotten it for him when he was 2! It is very sturdy, the handle is great for carrying it, and he loves how the people, dog and moon buggy all fit inside the rocket. Very cute, durable toy that will provide years of fun for a rocket-loving child!

We got this for our little boy about a year ago. He is now 3.5 years old. He really enjoys playing with toy and imaginative play has definitely kicked in. The astronauts (and puppy) have a lot of fun exploring the universe of his room and the rest of the house.

The toy does make sounds (limited to a 'take off' sequence and a 'flying' sequence). It does have a volume setting (loud or soft) and an off setting. The sounds can be annoying, but the soft volume setting helps a lot.

A note about quality. The toy overall is very durable. Thick, heavy plastics for the rocket and slightly softer, but even thicker plastics for the figures and rover. However, the cockpit door and the rover garage door don't stay on very well with hard play. They are very easy to reattach, so it's not a total loss. I think it's better that the toy is easy to fix rather than breaks once and then it never works again. Three year old boys can be a little rough.

Overall, I like this toy a lot. I'd prefer to have a bit more movement in the figures (they have no movement abilities), but I'm a lot older.

I recommend this toy.

My son immediately fell in love with this rocket toy when he saw it on the shelf at the local toy store. I almost passed it by because it was more than I was prepared to spend at the moment, but I am glad that I didn't. He adores this rocket and carries it everywhere he goes. The quality of the paint, construction, and action figures is simply amazing. The bottom door does fall off a bit often (a feature not a bug which you will come to appreciate) but it easily snaps back on. Overall a fantastic toy that will last for years.
