5.0 out of 5 stars Soul Therapy, August 17, 2011
This review is from: Early Light (Neo-Celtic Folk harp & Paraguayan Harp) (Audio CD)
This music is light, cheerful, soothing, and restful. Ms. Diwa visited me in the hospital last summer and I was very grateful for her masterful performance for an audience of 1, so I bought her CD and have listened to it frequently since. I hope she is able to record more in the future. I requested "Skye Boat Song" and "Ashokan Farewell". She was able to play the former right there and learned the latter for her next visit. Some day I hope to hear her playing "Eleanor Plunkett". Thanks and my best wishes for a rewarding career in music!

5.0 out of 5 stars beautiful, simple harp music without enhancement, March 6, 2010

This review is from: Early Light (Neo-Celtic Folk harp & Paraguayan Harp) (Audio CD)
I am not an expert on harps. There is not a lot of solo harp music and like any album that features just one instrument you tend to get saturated. The thing I liked about this album is absence of supporting instruments. Portia Diwa doesn't need them. She plays strongly and confidently. I liked four tracks on this album very much Wedding Bells,El Alhualaco,Great Ocean and Baston Llanero. This harp music is different from other harp music. You get the feeling that this a harp recital and not specifically made for a CD. Pieces that the harpist has really worked hard on. And it shows. I recommend it highly.
