This is an absolutely necessary for any true Opera buff. Caruso is, with out a doubt the greatest tenor of all time, and this recording shows that well. The only reason I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 is the fact that it has a lot of hiss. This is unavoidable since all of the songs were recorded between 1902 and 1910, but I would not recommend buying this set if you cannot stand that sound for long. The technique, the passion... it's all there! It's a good collection of the world's "pioneer" tenor.

This is a superb collection of Caruso's versatility. You will get a good sampling of the VOICE. For any opera lover this set is a must. However, even if opera is not your baliwick get this CD because it truly showcases a Master plying his art.
The sound quality is quite good considering that these are historical performances. There is a hiss but the beauty of the numbers far over shadows this drawback.
A cautionary note. There are two CDs in this set but ONLY CD ONE has
Caruso's recordings. CD TWO contains samples from Nimbus' Prima Voce series and has recordings by various artists. Even CD TWO is great but for my money just the Caruso CD is worth its weight in gold.
Superb! What a bargain from the folks at Nimbus.
