Teen's View,
By Bridget McKenna (Overland Park, KS) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Early to Rise (Paperback)
The book, Early To Rise, by Michael Stahl kept my attention for most of the 200 plus page. I believe that having the author's viewpoint definitely helps show how teenagers truly can make money in the stock market. The book also seems geared towards teenagers, which is good for people who don't know anything about the stock market. For me, however, it seemed to repeat multiple facts I already knew. While the book seems to start off with new and interesting ideas, it lost my attention as I read on. I enjoyed reading about the author's own financial endeavors. They seemed to motivate me to want to begin investing in my own stock. I think it was motivational because the author's excitement for investing shines through each of his personal stories. The downside to some of these stories is that some are repeated multiple times. While I find it extremely interesting that he began investing when he was 10, I don't feel that he needs to repeat this four times. This aspect only makes me feel like I should have been investing when I was 10. Stahl not only repeats his own personal stories, but he also repeats aspects of economics. Repeating definitions five to eight times doesn't seem necessary. This repetition is what made the book boring to me. One really good aspect of the book is the investment club chapter. While I don't feel I could start an investment club, I think it's great that he's spreading the word about them and that he gives wonderful instructions on how to start one. The example documents in the book truly display how one can begin an investment club. Another great part is that he informs us of multiple places to find information about economics, the stock market, etc. These web sites and books would come in handy for any investor, not just the new ones. These few good aspects are enough for me to recommend the book. I feel, however, that new investors would benefit from it the most.

A must have for any investor!,
By Ephren Taylor (Carlisle, MS) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Early to Rise (Paperback)
This book was great. Whe I picked it up I couldn't put it down. It was filled with real world application and quality sound investment advice. It was written in terms a young person like myself could understand. Also the humor inside kept it from being an average dry and boring book like most investment books. This one is a must have. In fact let me testify that my stock portfolio is perfomrning better than ever under Mike's guidance and I am beating the 10% average. Keep in mind I have been investing for less than a year now with great results. Thanx to Mike I now can read a stock report and charts like a educated investor and pick my own stocks following my own combination of selection criteria along with Mike's. Also I have 2 IRA accounts and a retirement package in the works that is nothing to sneeze at. I am passing this on to my famliy and bringing in the dough. You gotta getthis book.

An excellent introduction to the world of finance,
By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Early to Rise (Paperback)
Now in an updated second edition, Early To Ri$e: A Young Adult's Guide To Saving, Investing, And Financial Decisions That Can Shape Your Life is a guide to money matters in plain English terms, written especially for young people just starting out on their own. In an era when conventional wisdom warns against depending on benefits such as Social Security or Medicare as younger generations get older, Early To Ri$e takes the next logical step - teaching the reader how to develop an investor's mentality, the basics of money management and mutual funds, how to use stocks and youth to one's advantage, how to spot winning stocks and dump losers (hint: don't just look at how the stock has performed in the past, study the company's financial reports and prospects), and perhaps the most valuable investing advice of all, never get greedy. An excellent introduction to the world of finance; though Early to Ri$e is written especially for young people, its advice is invaluable to money market newcomers of all ages.

Informative and entertaining,
By Scott (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Early to Rise (Paperback)
After reading this book, it seems obvious that Mr. Stahl knows about the business world. Being a young investor myself, I found the information on investing to be very valuable. I recommend this book to anyone who recently began living on their own, or who wants to learn how to use their earnings wisely. As informative as "Early to Rise" is, Mr. Stahl still managed to deliver it in an interesting and entertaining manner. Very effective!

I agree with Scott above. This book is really informative but the thing is, the author makes it fun for people our age. My mom got it for me for my birthday and it was a really good idea. I'd tell anyone I met that this book's got game.

Interesting Book,

I just got this book for Chrismas and although I've only read the first few chapters it's really good. The book just speaks to our generation. I'm into investments and stuff but all that junk adults write doesn't feel me. Pick this thing up for yourself or if you're a parent, get it for your kid. They'll like it, trust me.

By Zal Y Bilimoria (Philadelphia, PA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Early to Rise (Paperback)
As soon as I picked up the book and started on the first chapter, I was drawn into it and never put the book down. It's fairly easy reading and everything is put clearly. His tid bits of humor make the book even more enjoyable. I have followed his simple advice and, as a college student, am saving my earned money and using it more wisely. Thanks, ...

Basic, but helpful,
By A Customer
This review is from: Early to Rise (Paperback)
This book is great for teens between the ages of 15 to 18, or for those who are still in highschool. It gives great advice on how to save money and the basics of investing. I'm 19 and this book was a bit helpful but told me most things which I already knew about, like how not to fall into credit debt etc.
