How lucky we were to have George Harrison make such beautiful music in our lifetime. A great soul and fantastic musician. Although some of these outtakes have been bootlegged before on the Beware of ABCKO Cd. The new remastering and clarity of these tracks, with him mostly singing with his guitar or with simple arrangements, is so heartfelt and joyous, you can't help but from being transported. If you are a fan, be ready to feel the love of why we still honour him All these years Later (Ago). I love every track but because I never heard his version of Let it Be Me before the DVD came out, this is a standout for me. Also hearing George play and sing Behind that Closed Door was breathtaking. It is one of my favorite songs of all time. Enjoy his unique gift of spirituality and breathtaking songs, a perfect companion to help lift your soul. Nameste .

Simple, human, and very emotional. Early Takes, Volume 1 is an extreme close-up of George Harrison. It's a conversation between the listener and the quiet Beatle. It simply couldn't be any better. And it's better than the 'more produced' versions of Harrison songs you're already familiar with. I love it. You'll appreciate the songs more than you do already. It's a George Harrison CD that really shines a light on George Harrison as a composer, a musician and a person.

Yes it's short time-wise, but my god listen to what you get!! I've never been a fan of the "we've got 70 plus minutes to fill on this here cd, so put everything available on regardless of quality" etc school of thought. For me, the old vinyl lp standard of 35 minutes overall (about 18 min per side) was always a perfect constraint with which an artist can do their thing (exceptions being some double lp sets, ie the White Album, Physical Graffiti, Exile On Main Street).

In any event, if you like George's work you'll LOVE this set, and for complainers who cry 'rip off', I would just point out how Olivia Harrison did NOT do what most major rock figures routinely do, which is to make these "bonus" or "extras/out-takes" sets available ONLY if you buy them as part of an uber-pricey super-deluxe boxes costing hundreds. Instead, you only have to drop a tenner.

And if you LOVE George's work, well you've already bought this haven't you?

;-)

Cheers!

What a terrific addition to George's catalogue! Giles Martin did a wonderful job with these tracks--it sounds like George is playing in my listening room!! I can only hope "Volume 1" implies there will be several more. Well worth the $'s

George Harrison, simple, humble, brilliant and definitely emotional. You get George Harrison in your face and in your ears, up close and personal and that's just the way we like it. It's like a 1x1 with George Harrison. You will be hard put to find something to surpass this. It's fresh and natural, like George in all his natural beauty. This collection makes the Inner Light shine on the fortunate listeners.

George had a very distinctive guitar style and his voice was deep and soothing. Those fortunate enough to have enjoyed these on bootleg collections can now have some of these songs made accessible. The remastering and purity is superb and you will feel what George Harrison was all about - love. George, as I've said many times was created by love; born into love; surrounded by love; created songs that sparked and reinforced love and his final directive was "love one another." George Harrison's music is a loving influence, an auditory embrace. I can't recommend this one highly enough.

Remarkable outtakes from George Harrison's early solo career. Like the recent Bob Dylan Bootleg series - one can easily make the argument that these songs in their rawest form; are as good or better than the finished product. This will put to rest any notion that "All Things Must Past" was successful due to Phil Spector's grand wall of sound. These songs as presented here in their "infancy" are brilliant. Highly recommended. And to the reviewer who is unhappy that there are too few songs - please - just because you can put a lot of music on a disk - doesn't mean you should.

In just one word FANTASTIC!! Wow,these songs have never sounded better! I really loved all of George Harrisons music in its original release format. However, these stripped down, raw, heartfelt versions are priceless!! With only 10 songs this just wets our taste buds for more. We can only hope they release more of these "treasures" from all of George's catalogue. It would be a real treat for Harrison fans if Olivia releases 10 demos from each of his albums. Since George is no longer with us this is as close as we can get to new music. If you love George Harrison music please BUY THIS NOW!!! You will love this cd!!

First these are demos and early out takes so have to rate these songs for what they are. It's neat to see how George worked thru these songs and how they sound in a raw form also the songs are very clear, the only thing I did not like was bass on some of the songs were to loud I had to turn it down a bit to keep the bass from taking over the songs, Let it be me, was is the prize song on the cd George sang this song just right almost sounds like he was going to us it on one of his lps but ended up dropping it, What a shame. My sweet lord is another stand out avery nice tune, well I can keep going so if you what something fresh this is it:-)
