The Early Years: 1990-1995, December 14, 2002
This review is from: Early Years 1990-1995 (Audio CD)
Ok two things i would recommend for you to enjoy this CD, first, you need to be a casaulties fan. I would say you need to have at least "for the punx" and "underground army" to really understand a lot of these songs, as most of this CD is simply the earlier editions of songs that they have redone and put into newer CD's, and its a really bad introduction CD. Second, dont get this unless you get into really raw punk rock. The recording on this CD is pretty bad, ive heard worse, but its pretty nasty. However i know most of you harcore punkers/casualties fans can get around that, because once you do, this CD is amazing. The casualties do lose a little of their speed on a lot of the songs, but they lose none of their energy. the newer version of "destruction and hate" (on "for the punx"), does absolutely no justice to the song. The amount of anger and emotion put into the vocals of this recording are amazing, and make the newer recordings want to go crawl in a hole and die. If your going to whine about the quality, you dont need to be listening to punk. The last song (punk rock love), is in pitiful condition, but it contains so much rawness and emotion within it, that it could destroy the newer versions in an instant, without all sorts of adavence recording equiptment. This holds true with a lot of the songs. A few new ones are intorduced as well, "The OI song" is so nasty and unorganized, but isnt that what street punk is about? Over time this has become one of my most cherished CD's, to me it stands as defining real street punk: angry, loud, nasty, and real. If your already a fan of the casualties, and know a lot of their songs, you will love this CD, unless you need quality, in which im not really sure why your listening to punk anyways.

Punk Isn't Supposed to Have Good Recording, July 31, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Early Years 1990-1995 (Audio CD)
The ideals of punk don't require a good recording on their album. If they want a good recording then they'll sellout. What matters is the attitude, and there's plenty of it on The Early Years. Don't be swayed by bad recording, punk always has been, and always will be a gritty genre. I thought such tracks like "Punk Rock Love" and "Oi! Song" were the best songs on the CD, not because of the lyrics or instrumentals, but because of their true gritty punk sound. So if you want a well recorded album go get a Puff Daddy CD. If you want a good punk album, get "The Early Years: 1990-1995."

awesome disc, July 3, 2003
This review is from: Early Years 1990-1995 (Audio CD)
I just recently got this cd and I would like to say it is now one of my favorites. sure, the recording [stinks], but it just makes it sound more authentic. a lot of the songs lose their "punch" in the newer versions. the older ones have more feeling in them. also this is just plain good streetpunk. I highly recomend this CD.
