I wanted to have my 18-month-old boy practice stringing beads. All the other bead sets were 2+. So I got these. The only problem is that they are hollow so in order to string them you have to get the "needle" through the first hole in the bead (not a problem) but if you don't have the needle lined up just right is gets stuck in the bead. The holes have a lip on the inside so if the needle goes in at an angle the tip catches between the side and the lip of the second hole then you've got to back up the needle, look through the bead, line up the head of the needle with the second hole and then push it through. This is very frustrating to an 18-month-old.

Disappointed,

I wanted a lacing project for my 2 grandchildren 18 months and 21 months old at the time and thought this looked quite nice. My grandchildren did enjoy lacing them but got frustrated because I had to help. Actually I really had to put the lace through the hole. The beads are very wide making it very hard for them to get the point of the lace through the hole opening and getting it to come out on the other side. They are now 21 months and 24 months old and I still have to help them. Sometimes even I had trouble. I had purchased another lacing project called beads and baubles which is great. They are very thin colorful pieces in different shapes that is much easier for young children to lace them. My granchildren had no problem with them and they enjoy it.

The beads are large and easy to grab. Three different shapes can be mixed and matched. A perfect lacing toy.

good product but not before 2!,

good product, tough to do though for a 2 years old because the lace has to be inserted right in the middle of the hole to go through, not so easy for a young child. I thought my son would play more with it.

I purchased this for my 2 year old and he loves playing with it! I wish I had gotten this sooner but even now at 2 years old it keeps him entertained and pretty soon his baby brother will be able to play with it too! That said, I wouldn't pay the full price for this but got it at a great deal so couldn't go wrong!

I agree with some negative reviews. It is hard for toddler to use the needle as it is too short. Besides figures are empty inside and you need to find the opposite whole from inside.
But my son just loves the figures and plays with them. Sometimes he is lucky enough to use it as they should be used. |
